Benson Sculpture Garden has been a deliberate plan by the citizens ofLoveland, CO, USA to create a vibrant arts town in this foothillscommunity. The garden is free and open sunrise to sunset. The garden hasan annual competition in August (http://www.sculptureinthepark.org/)where artists show and compete (though I dislike the idea of competewith art). The garden is located at the intersection of 29th and Beech, across the street from the high school. Parking is NOT allowed near theschool on school days, but if you just travel north on Beech, there is streetparking around the bend. This garden has restroom facilities and many benches to rest and view theart. The signage is both in English and braille for vision impaired visitors. The garden also appears to be wheel chair accesible. I came here to playwith my new camera and visit a couple of specific pieces (which I will postin the respective Waymark categories). The artwork ranges from traditional sculptures, many with a westerntheme, to partial or full nudes to abstract. The collection is growing andthere are pieces on the south side of 29th (I just ran out of time).
Along with a peaceful serene setting and a backdrop of the great RockyMountains sits Benson Sculpture Garden located at 2908 Aspen Dr,Loveland, Colorado 80538. You might stroll through the area to admirecurrent sculpture art on display or to find a perfect spot in the shade andjust read a book and relax before the resuming your next adventure. Fora very memorable treat, take your family and walk along the paths andamongst the various displays of creative bronze sculptures. This sculpture garden is home to the annual Sculpture in the Park showand currently displays approximately 131 unique, fun and imaginativepieces of art on a permanent basis. Some of the items are puzzling, someare true to life, some are humorous and fun, some are very serious.Trying to guess the purpose behind each statue can become a personal orcompetitive game as you wander. Remember, do not peek at thedescriptive marker beside each sculpture until you have taken a verygood guess. It is more fun that way and will awaken the imagination.Whether you are a visitor in Loveland, just passing through, or thinkingof becoming a resident here, please take the time to visit the park. Anyonewho lives here on a permanent basis will tell you that it will be time wellspent, and a wonderful place to tell your friends about
