  • Capitalization Rules 5 Specific places you could find on a map: South American, Tiananmen Square 4 Nationalities, Languages, religion, and ethnic groups : Vietnamese, English, Cristian, Asian, Native American. 3 Name of people and their titles: King Faisal, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Simpson. He’s a king. 2 The pronoun I alone : At first I appeared in cartoons. 1 The first word in a sentence : My name is Mickey Mouse.
  • Capitalization Rules 10 Titles of books, magazines, newspapers, movies, and TV series-also the titles of your own paragraphs, but articles, conjunctions, and short preposition are not capitalized: Wheel of Fortune, How to Tune a Car’s Engine, The New York Times. 9 Geographic areas but not compas directions: the Middle East, Southeast Asia, turn west. 8 Name of the days, months, holidays, and special time periods but not the names of seasons: Monday, January, New Year’s Day, Ramadan, summer. 7 Name of specific organizations such as businesses, schools, and clubs: Sears, roebuck & Co, City College of New York, International Students’ Club. 6 Names of specific structures such as buildings, roads, and bridges : the White House, State Route 15, the Golden Gate Bridge.
