  • 1. How Do I Get My Article?
A step-by-step guide to finding the full-text of articles through Pilgrim Library.
  • 2. If you have a complete article citation and you want to find the full-text of the article, follow these steps:
Step 1: Make sure you have all your citation information, especially journal title and year.
Step 2: Go to the library homepage and click on Journal Finder.
  • 3. Write the title of your journal in the Known Title search box.
  • 4. Journal information will appear below. Scroll until you find the journal title you were looking for.
  • 5. Sample journal entry
    Date range for online coverage
Subject – click to see similar journals
    Database provider
Under the title of the journal, you will see hyperlinks and dates. The hyperlinks go to the database that provides an online copy of the journal you want. Sometimes a journal is popular and is covered by multiple databases. Click on the link to whichever database has coverage for the year your require.
  • 6. The look of this page may vary according to database, but typically the next step to finding your article is to click on the year of publication, then the correct volume/issue.
  • 7. Again, other databases may look differently. Once you get to this point, you are able to browse through the journal just like you would in print. Scroll until you find the article you were searching for.
  • 8. To print, email, save, or get a formatted citation for an article use these options.
To access the full text of the article click on pdf or on Find It!
  • 9. What if my Journal Title isn’t in the Journal Finder?
Though we have an impressive collection of online journals, there are still many journals that we don’t have access to. If you cannot find the full text of the article you want, visit this helpful website and follow its directions: http://library.defiance.edu/guides/articles.html
  • 10. Options for finding an article:
    • OLinks direct full-text
    • 11. Full-text available through database
    • 12. In print at the library
    • 13. Available online for free (check with journal publisher, Google scholar)
    • 14. Request from another library via Get It
If at any point during this process you get confused, please feel free to ASK a librarian at Pilgrim Library!
