  • Boils Treatments Boils are formation of bacterial infection in the hair follicles. The infected area gets swollen, filled with pus and is accompanied by pain The bacterium responsible for the formation of boils is known as Staphylococcus aureus. Boils are very troublesome if not well treated . Boils generally develop on the skin areas that are covered with coarse hair and the regions that are exposed to mild range of friction. The skin areas that are most likely to be affected by boils are the neck, buttocks , elbows, knees and similar other regions. The boil at first starts with a small nodule that is red in appearance and quite painful if subjected to touch. With the growth of the bacteria the boil gradually increases in size. The top part of the boil then becomes soft and in the later stages pus flows out from its top portion . Healing of Boils A boil takes about a couple of weeks to heal naturally. With 5 to 7 days of its formation, the boil turns out to be a lump filled with pus of a diameter about 3 to 10 centimeters. As the boil gets matured pus along with blood begin to come out. With the passage of time the boil becomes dry and vanishes from the skin leaving a small scar. But sometimes, the boils can become too painful to bear and too infectious to get cured. For instances like formation of too many boils at one place, or a big size boil at a very prominent location like at the middle of the face, you are recommended to go for a boils treatment under authentic medical supervision.
  • What Causes Boils/Boils causes
    • If you have a poor health and a weak immune system, you are most likely to be attacked by boils. The bacteria inside your skin will get the opportunity to multiply without facing any natural resistance of the body.
    • The repeated incidence of boils at the age of 40 and above is accounted as one of the symptoms of being attacked by diabetes. Diabetes is also the cause of damaging the immune system as a result of which the body fails to fight against the attack of bacteria.
    • Boils may also occur if proper hygiene is not maintained. The sebaceous glands mainly of the regions like armpit and clefts of buttocks that are not often properly washed may get infected with boils.
    • Due to the incidence of other skin infections like acne , eczema or scabies that lead to constant itching of the skin surface destroy the protective skin layer completely. The very degradation of the quality of skin causes the growth of boils.
    • Obesity is another factor behind what causes boils .
    • Any form of fever or disease that completely breaks down the immune system may be responsible for favoring the development of boils. Even the medicines like prednisone taken in for curing such diseases may lead to the formation of boils as one of the side effects.
    • Boils may also occur due to internal health problems. If the body contains toxic substances then the boil formation is more prevalent.
    • If the body experiences irregular bowel movement
    • In case an individual does not maintain a proper
    • healthy diet and in take excess of oil and junk food items.
    • Too much consumption of alcohol is also one of the
    • causes behind the formation of boils.
  • Boils Symptoms
    • The Common Boils Symptoms
    • Boils are accompanied by redness and swollenness. The very onset of the boils is characterized by turning of the skin into red. Within a day or two the nodule develops. The nodule further grows into a huge red lump. The lump takes a size of about 3 to 10 centimeters in diameter. Sometimes the size grows almost to a size of a golf ball!
    • Formation of boils also cause unbearable pain. In the initial stages the boil is painful when touched but with the growth of the boil the pain aggravates. Even a little twitching will lead to a tingling and burning sensation. The pain may get even worse if somebody attempts to squeeze the boil to let the pus out. It is a caution for all that boils are not to be touched with unclean hands.
    • Boils are often filled with a whitish substance called pus.
    • The pus is nothing but the accumulation of the white blood
    • cells or the lymphocytes, the dead bacteria and some
    • amounts of protein. The formation of pus is the result of
    • the action taken by the immune system of our body to
    • fight against the bacteria called Staphylococcus aureus
    • causing the development of boils. The pus is very infectious. Fresh boils sprout out in the areas that come in contact with the pus of the boil. So, to avoid further boil formation you are required to keep your infected area with antiseptic solutions.
    • Sometimes boils become very complex. With the development of the boil the patient may also suffer from intermittent spells of chilling fever. But as the boil dries up the person also gets rid of the fever. In some cases the boil gets so big in size that medical supervision is required. Along with antibiotics to reduce the intensity of boils the physician also prescribes separate medication for fever.
