Books for Soldiers
Over the past two years, Tower Road Library staff and local volunteers sent more than 10,000 magazines and books to deployed U.S. military members serving in Iraq and Afghanistan
Friends of the Library collects financial donations for postage.
Volunteers help gather magazines and other items for troops.
Over 400 boxes have made their way from the Tower Road Library to remote bases in Iraq and Afghanistan
The Alachua County Library District (ACLD) Foundation is a support group for the Alachua County Library District.
Incorporated in 1989 as a 501(C)(3) non-profit corporation, the Foundation's mission is to provide supplemental funding to the library with an emphasis on long-term support and planned giving.
Katherine's Tree is a ten foot high "donor tree" located at the Headquarters Library in downtown Gainesville. Each leaf on Katherine's Tree represents an endowment gift of $2,000 or more.

Accepts donations year-round and has many volunteers who sort, price, and arrange these books for the public semi-annual book sales.
The money made during the book sales is used for budgeted library support, scholarships for library staff, special projects, and county literacy projects.

Who Can Volunteer?
Anyone who is 12 years old and older.
Individuals who are reliable and able to stick to sometimes unexciting - but vital - tasks.
People who can commit to volunteering 2-4 hours a week (maximum is 20 hours/ week) for a 3-6 month period depending on the tasks.
