Question # 5 Answer: The Bible and true science are always in perfect agreement since the physical world was created by God and the laws of science are expressions of this creation. The existence of fossil remains cannot be denied. The question is: what does the Bible have to say about this ? The answer is: very little. But, it is not completely silent on the subject. Apparently, when the book of Genesis was written, there was some knowledge of these things. The first 3 verses of the Bible give a brief glimpse of prehistoric times, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1) And the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. (Genesis 1:2) Then God said, \"Let there be light\": and there was light. (Genesis 1:3) The \"beginning\" in verse 1 denotes the very beginning of creation - what some people call the \"Big Bang.\" So, the earth was created near the very \"beginning.\" God, as portrayed throughout the Old and the New Testaments, would never have created a dark and gloomy earth as described in verse 2. So, something happened between the end of the events depicted in the first verse and the events depicted at the start of the second verse. Many Biblical scholars attribute the gloomy conditions of verse 2 to the rebellion of Satan and the angels who followed him. The fourth word of verse 2 is \"was.\" This word is a translation of a Hebrew verb whose meaning is \"to become.\" So, a more accurate translation of verse 2 is : \"And the earth became formless and ........\" It became a dark and gloomy place because of Satan's rebellion. Also, the original Hebrew word which is translated as earth means dry land. This original meaning of the word earth is evident in verse 10 of chapter 1 of Genesis where it is written that \"God called the dry land earth, and ..............\" Verse 3 is the start of the present earth. So, there certainly would be fossil remains in the present earth, remains from whatever lived on the original earth. This teaching is known as the Gap Theory. It is based upon a careful study of the original Hebrew language. Question # 5 Won't they go to hell, even though they are a Christian? Answer: Caption describing picture or No, they will not go to hell. Their spirit will enter into heaven a few graphic. short moments after physical death. For a Christian, repentance for sin is not done for salvation; it is done in order to re- establish communications with God. Sin in the life of a child of God creates static in communications, much like the static on the telephone when the connection is not hooked up properly. The person's conscience bothers them and this necessary and healthy guilt (the Hound of Heaven) tracks the individual. The static that has been created can only be removed by repentance. The process that a person goes through is: guilt for having done wrong, sorrow, a determination not to repeat the wrongdoing (repentance), asking for forgiveness and then, finally, receiving forgiveness. This forgiveness removes the static. These are the necessary steps a person goes through for forgiveness if they commit a sin against God. These are the same steps an individual goes through if they commit a sin against another person. In both cases there must be repentance for the sin committed. The Christian was never in danger of losing their salvation; this assurance was given 2,000 years ago, on Calvary. Please Feel Free to E-mail us @: cmc2012@netins.net Question # 3 Question # 3 Question # 4 What if an innocent child should die at a very young age or be aborted? They haven't had a chance to accept Christ. Question # 5 It doesn't seem fair that they should go to hell when they've never done anything wrong? Answer: The child will not go to hell. It doesn't matter if their parents are Hindus or Taoist or whatever, the result will be the same - their little spirits will enter into heaven a few short moments after physical death. God is not heartless or uncaring. He loves all people from every tribe on earth. The principle at work here is that you must have reached the age of consent to be held accountable for your actions and decisions. In some cultures this is thought to be 13 years of age. But, you must have reached an age where you are able to understand right from wrong. For some people, such as those who are born with handicaps which prevent them from ever reaching the age of consent, they are never held responsible and truly are blessed even though their life on earth will probably be very difficult. Evidence of what happens to those children who have not reached the age of consent when they die is illustrated by King David's words after his first child with Bathsheba died. David had an illicit affair with Bathsheba and had her husband Uriah purposely slain in battle as part of a cover-up when she was found to be pregnant with David's child. The child was born but had some type of deadly illness. David prayed for the child, but the child died and David's response to the death of his child was, \"While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, 'Who knows, the LORD may be gracious to me, that the child may live.' (2 Samuel 12:22) \"But now he has died; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again ? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.\" (2 Samuel 12:23) The last sentence in the 23rd verse is one of the places in the Bible where your question is answered. David knew that he was the anointed of God and would go to heaven. David says that he (David) shall go to the child. So, the child must be in heaven. And then David ends by saying that there is a finality to physical death. Please Feel Free to E-mail us @: cmc2012@netins.net Question # 3 Question # 4 Question # 4 Does God have a sense of humor? Question # 5 Answer: Of course He does. All of our good qualities, including humor, are a pale reflection of God's goodness and flow from Him: the gift of love; the desire for family; the inner need to build and create things. The list is almost endless. Examples of His sense of humor in nature are numerous: a kitten chasing its tail; the nose-first crash landing of a gooney bird; a human child trying to stick his foot in his mouth; an ostrich running. It brings great joy to God to watch all of the antics going on in His Creation. Please Feel Free to E-mail us @: cmc2012@netins.net Question # 3 Question # 5 Should Christians judge others? Question # 4 Answer: Question # 5 Yes. But, we should not be judgmental. We are to judge with tolerance, compassion and objectivity. And, we are to judge without hypocrisy. Jesus spoke of judging without hypocrisy in the seventh chapter of Matthew, \"Do not judge lest you be judged.\" (Matthew 7:1) \"For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you\" (Matthew 7:2) \"And why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do no notice the log that is in your own eye?\" (Matthew 7:3) \"Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of you eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye?\" (Matthew 7:4) \"You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.\" (Matthew 7:5) Jesus is not saying that we are not to judge. He is saying that we are not to be hypocrites when we judge. If someone cheats on their income taxes or takes supplies home from the office, they are not to judge someone who robs a bank. Both are thieves. Paul also writes about judging in his first letter to the Corinthians, Does any one of you, when he has a case against his neighbor, dare to go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? (1 Corinthians 6:1) Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts? (1 Corinthians 6:2) Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, matters of this life? (1 Corinthians 6:3) In the first verse Paul is writing about Christians judging fellow Christians. He is not talking about judging those outside the church. In the second verse he then chides the Corinthians by reminding them that they will judge the world. So, can't they make judgments among themselves without going to civil courts outside the church? And in the third verse, Paul tells the Corinthians they will judge angels. If Christians are to judge angels, then they are more than capable of judging matters of this world. Do You Have Any Questions?
