    • Product Design Manager : attached the organization chart ( some names has been changed, but it represents the organization of the Engineering Department at GMV) 1.Lead the Chassis, Trim and Electrical engineering groups: 14 Engineers responsible for engineering change management and vehicle integration strategies for automotive components including Electrical wiring, radios and speakers, alternators, batteries, electronic modules, ChevyStar Telematics components, seat systems, seatbelts, carpet, insulators, brakes, front/rear disk and drum, brake pipes, rear axles, propeller shafts, axle shaft, fuel tank system, fuel lines, electronic control systems/modules, tire and wheel, glasses, windshield, exhaust system, catalytic converters , lubricants and fluids, paint and ELPO system. 2.Lead the engineers within the electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering concepts to release, develop , integrate and validate components following design engineering requirement/standards, the PPAP ( Part Approval Process) development process and Lead Engineering Centers assistance.
      • 3 Major localization and development projects as a Product Engineer and Product Design Manager:
      • Aveo Plastic Fuel Tank: complete concept design , prototyping , development and validation of plastic fuel tank for Aveo - Andean Region. This plastic tank is the first and only tank for a 1.6 Liter Aveo in the Andean region, that complies with Euro II standards. Plastic tanks are approximately $50 less expensive than metallic tanks. This Plastic tank was develop with supplier Soplast to ensure volume and fuel autonomy , electrical and structural integrity, same as safety and regulations performance including crash performance test and gas emission certification at Cruz Alta Proving Ground - GM Brazil.
      • ChevyStar Telematics / Satellite / Security System : complete concept design, prototyping and development of ChevyStar as a security/client interaction feature option for vehicles, similar to OnStar in US but for local Andean Market customers. Strategic design of the electrical architecture and integration of electrical wiring and components, electronic modules and controls; validation of functionality and service performance standards according to Marketing Department requirements, in order to comply with service and customer satisfaction. Programs with ChevyStar include: Aveo, Optra, Silverado, Grand Vitara,Trailblazer. Chevystar has helped gain customer satisfaction and to retain Chevrolet customers. GM is the only car manufacturer to offer this option in the Andean Region, contributing with car recovery and clients road assistance 24/7.
      • “ Natural Gas Applications- PDVSA : Work along with the oil state company PDVSA to develop, integrate and validate the natural gast systems and components for several GM Brand vehiciles like Silverado, Optra, Aveo, Grand Vitara. Colaborate in the design and concept of system and componentes with Natural Gas equipment suppliers. Work along with GM Brazil on the components and emission validation of this alternative fuel system on GM vehicles, including crash test and emission test performance to comply with local and world standards and regulations.
      • “ Mini” Global Program Engineering Leader - Andean Region : Engineering contact with Lead Engineering Center in South Korea to development regional requirements and performance for 2010 new program: Mini vehicle. The leadership to collect all requirements from local market to be incorporated into the global program prototype phases, to ensure proper powertrain, brake, electrical , suspension, air conditioning and exhaust performances as critical items for the Andean market. Work along with the Electrical Global Team to develop and integrate the ChevyStar option to the Mini program for the Andean Market. Work along with the Global team to ensure proper budgeting and resources for validation expenses and time planning according to GVDP ( Global Vehicle Development Process)
      • Grand Vitara / XL7 Engineering Launching Leader: Contribute with Suzuki Motors to development the localization and manufacturability plans for these programs, involving Project Management and team leadership within manufacturing, quality and operations departments
      • Other relevant developments include : Rear Axle for GMT800 and GMT900 pickups, axle shafts for Aveo, seat assemblies: Corsa, Aveo, Optra, Silverado, Trailbazer.
      • Engineering Department Global contact leader with GM Lead Engineering Centers GMBrazil, ISUZU- Japan, Suzuki-Japan, GMNorthAmerica and GMDaewoo -South Korea; to plan localization strategies for components and systems, and to lead the launching process along with the Manufacturing and Quality Departments.
      • 5 Define specific market and customer requirements for the Andean Region with the Lead Engineering Centers in other to ensure proper integration and validation of local components into the local programs. Maintain regular contact with Engineering Centers to update legal and market requirements in order to satisfy regional and international regulations for vehicle safety performance, including SAE, ASTM, FMVSS, JASO,JIS and KS standards.
      • 6 Preparation , revision and approval of component’s final drawings and assembly instructions for manufacturability of local components, locally developed and validated, using AutoCAD , UG NX and VisMockup 3D drafting tools.
      • 7 Technical Assembly plant assistance and support to manufacturing operations before, during and after launching of any assembly program. Assistance to the quality department to implement temporary work orders and engineering changes , production trial runs, quality assistance to problem resolution by using practices like TQM, Red-X, 5 - Step problem.
      • 8 Assist the Purchasing and Supply Departments in the localization and distribution process by providing technical and Engineering BOM information, and reviewing the Engineering Change Management process with several GM Centers like GM Daewoo, the major supplier of CKD Material, and support engineering deviations for production parts
      • 9 Planning and execution of Engineering Department budget ( 3MM+ ) to assure proper operation and efficacy of the engineering, release, integration and validation for CKD (complete knockdown) and SUP programs.
      • 10 Planning and execution of Engineering Department balance scorecard objectives following Global Manufacturing System to comply with the organization’s safety, quality, people, responsiveness, cost and environmental objectives.
      • Safety: ensure proper operation without accidents or incidents. Quality: Provide quality information and data release such as BOM, Drawings, assembly instructions , owners manual , service manuals, Car Build Test Plans, Parts Approval information to Manufacturing , Quality and Service Departments
      • People: ensure proper technical training to the team as well as professional development within the organization. Assist RRHH to develop career plans for employees under the Engineering Department.
      • Responsiveness: Plan and execute projects on time to avoid delays on launching products to the market, supported by the Car Build Test Plan to validate parts and components and comply with the program execution. Ensure all legal and safety regulations standards are complied and accomplish by sales date.
      • Cost: Involve the employees in engineering cost reduction strategies to achieve savings in dollars per vehicle a year. (E.g.. Catalytic Converter savings of $20/vehicle by reducing the catalytic load while complying with local regulations)
      • Environmental: Contribute with the environment avoiding office waste or scrap accumulation within the Experimental Engineering, following ISO 14000 standards and procedures
