I've waited all day for my cup of gruel My stomach hurts

I sit still; that way I don’t get so dizzy.

There are so many of us. I subsist as best I can.

A cloud of dust covers my body, the flies buzz around my eyes.

My mom and dad died in the fighting.

They tell me I'm lucky to be alive. am I ? in the fighting.

I’ve seen so many guns, so many people being killed .

It is good that I am too weak to have nightmares.

Sometimes I watch the bugs crawling around. They seem to have such purpose.

I work on continuing to breathe….

I don't remember the last time I laughed.

It must have been when my mom was holding me, before the fighting began. That seems so long ago….

I hold on tight to something. Maybe it's called hope .
