  • 5. What former interns had to say…..
    • Imation’s Formal Program provides interns the opportunity to network both socially and professionally.
    • See what some of our interns thought of the program:
    • "This internship has exceeded all of my expectations. It really made me realize where I would like to end up in the field, and what my passions are. I can’t believe how much I have learned in just 3 months!!!" – Mandy, Human Resources Intern
    • “ Working on my specific project has exceeded my expectations. It was really challenging for me and a great opportunity to learn how to be a brand marketer!!!” – Eleana, Brand Marketing Intern
    • “ My internship at Imation gave me the opportunity and experience to work in a corporate IT environment that I wouldn't of been able to get right out of college. This internship gave me hands on experience and the ability to search out and do projects that I had an interest in learning how to do. Finally, the Imation internship allows all the interns to see and hear about all the other interns jobs and projects, which is a unique experience in itself.” – Chad, IT Project Management Intern
  • 6. What former interns had to say…..
    • “ My responsibilities as an intern primarily revolved around application development for Imation employees, accessible through both Lotus Notes and the Web. Imation provided a challenging and exciting atmosphere that was able to properly leverage many of the skills I had begun honing in my college courses. As an intern, I was handed the reins of a project and given the opportunity to take it from beginning to completion. This allowed me to gain hands-on-experience at every stage of the development process, from initial speculative meetings and requirements gathering to rolling out in both a development and production environment. Due to my experience as an intern, I was offered a full-time position as a Web Developer immediately upon graduation from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls.Apart from technical job specifics, Imation also provides interns with a unique socialization aspect that is crucial to success in any industry. Through regularly scheduled intern events, planned activities, and assignments that spanned multiple departments of our organization, our group of interns became a friendly and cohesive unit that was able to work together in a highly efficient manner. In the modern workplace of separate business segments and highly specialized disciplines, workers often fall into the rut of only socializing with their immediate coworkers. By bringing employees from multiple fields together on projects and recreational outings, we were able to see past our differences and really learn about the many necessary facets of a large organization running. In my opinion, the opportunity to socialize with and learn about the other employees of our company was the most valuable thing that I took away from my time as an intern.” - Hans, IT Intern
  • 7. Making a Good First Impression On-The-Job
    • What Imation looks for in an employee/intern…
    • (these skills are needed in all functional areas at Imation):

Is proactive (don’t wait for someone to tell you what to do or to ask for your opinion, communicate your ideas, gain some support and then MAKE IT HAPPEN). Enjoys a new challenge and added responsibilities.
    • Team-player or Partner-up-Ability …..Works willingly and effectively with others to accomplish team goals. Knows who to go to, internal networking.
    • Influence & Persuasion …..Know who to get involved in a decision, collaborate to come to a decision, be able to gain support for ideas. This is important, as Imation is a matrixed organization.
    • Manage Job/Time or Prioritization …..Maintaining a balance between work and personal life, while managing multiple competing demands during the workday.
