SlideShare has secured venture capital funding from Venrock, one of the leading venture capital firms in Silicon Valley. Venrock was founded in 1969 as the venture capital arm of the Rockefeller Family and has about $2.1 billion under management. David Siminoff, general partner at Venrock has joined SlideShare's board of directors.

David Siminoff began his career in the media business prior to his entrepreneurial pursuits in technology. Before spending a decade at Capital Research, making early investments in Yahoo!, AOL, Amazon and eBay, Siminoff founded and later sold EastNet, a syndicate barter company, enabling television stations in Eastern Europe to trade American TV programs for advertising time from major brands. He also co-founded 4INFO and most recently, he served as chairman, president and CEO of Spark Networks.

Dev Khare focuses on investments in digital media, mobile, digital car and software. Prior to Venrock, Dev co-founded in 1999 and lead product management for Covigo, a mobile software platform company. Covigo was acquired by Symbol Technologies (now part of Motorola) in 2003. Dev has also worked in product management at CrossWorlds Software and Aditi Technologies as well as in private equity and corporate finance at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and Jefferies & Company. Dev's educational background includes an MBA from Harvard Business School, a BS in Economics from Wharton and a BS in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
