School Details
3. Situation Olot is in the province of Girona,
a province of Catalonia, north-
east of Spain.
4. Our School is placed in the old centre of Olot (approx. 28.000
inhabitants), in La Garrotxa, province of Girona.
There is an exceptional landscape around the city; some of it belongs to
the Natural Park of the Volcanic Zone of La Garrotxa.

5. About our school
Catholic independent school of Mary’s Heart order. It was the
first one founded in 1848 by Joaquim Masmitjà i Puig, a
priest who wanted to give education to poor women.
The school receives financial subsidy from the Generalitat,
the Government of Catalonia.
“Fundació Privada Cor de Maria d’Olot” was created in 2002.
It is a foundation made up by seven people (nuns and
students’ parents) who take decisions.

growth of students in all its dimensions.

solidarity and peace because we are aware that the
promotion of these values is particularly urgent in our

9. Aims
To develop a project that integrates coexistence,
coeducation, moral and civic education, education for
peace, health education, environmental education,
intercultural education… as well as values such as justice,
participation, cooperation, respect...

Comenius project:
We (teachers and students) wish to achieve a better
understanding of the range of European cultures, languages
and values, and encourage the adquisition of the basic life
skills and competences necessary for personal
development, future employment and active citizenship.
