The righttrampoline can be a lifetime investment. A weak trampoline frameand/or frame that’s not fully galvanized might last 1-2 years. A thickand sturdy trampoline, with proper galvanization could last alifetime. It’s always difficult for parents to prevent multiple kidsfrom jumping on the trampoline at the same time, so make sure thetrampoline frame is strong, durable and fully galvanized both insideand out. Stronger frames will never break, bend or warp with excessweight or usage. If you’re comparing competitor trampolinethickness and quality, and want to confirm which trampoline has thestronger frame and higher user weight limit, ask the company forthe trampoline shipping weight. Assume that the trampoline withthe higher shipping weight should have the stronger, thicker andmore durable frame.Rust and corrosion are big factors, when dealing with metal andoutside elements, such as rain, snow and sun’s UV. To help reducethe chances of rust and corrosion, the trampoline should begalvanized, both inside and out. Some trampolines are justgalvanized on the outside, but not on the inside. Moisture and raincan get the inside of the tubes wet, thus, causing rust to build onthe inside. Avoid powder coated trampolines. Powder coatedtrampolines are not galvanized and only coated on the outside. Ifthe powder coating ever chips off, that will cause the trampoline torust. With no powder coating on the inside, rust will also build onthe inside.
  • 2. Should I Buy a Round Trampoline or Rectangular Trampoline:Rectangular trampolines can be loads of fun, but are moreexpensive. Rectangular trampolines are more expensive, becausethey’re harder to design and require more metal. Unlike roundtrampolines, rectangle trampolines have a more consistent bouncethroughout the entire mat. The springs will stretch and pull, depending on whichever part of the mat gets the most tension.Because of the consistent bounce throughout the mat, trampolinecompetitions are always done on rectangle trampolines. Manyathletes of all sports, both amateurs and professionals, will train onrectangle trampolines to build endurance, coordination and agility.Rectangular trampolines MUST have at least a 3.0 mm framethickness, otherwise, the bounce will not be optimized. Also, ifyou’re ever tight on space, rectangular trampolines are much easierto fit in tight corners.Round trampolines are very recreational and lots of fun. Lots ofnovice bouncers always start off with round trampolines, becausethey’re more inexpensive and more common. Round trampolinebounces are different from rectangle trampolines because of thecenter gravity point. Anytime when there is tension on the mat, allthe springs will stretch and pull, gravitating the jumper back to thecenter. What Size Trampoline Should I Buy?Choosing the right trampoline size can get very tricky. The righttrampoline will depend on budget, age/size of users, multiple users, yard size and purpose of trampoline usage. With budget, the smallerthe trampoline, the cheaper the price. Yard size can dictate thetrampoline size, but if budget isn’t an issue, go with the rectangletrampoline. Rectangle trampolines are much easier to fit in tightcorners. If there are always multiple users on the trampoline at any giventime, it’s always safest to go with the larger trampolines. Largertrampolines will allow for the users to jump freely, without having toworry about bumping into each other. Those who want their trampoline to be used for athletic trainingpurposes, always consider a rectangular trampoline or large roundtrampoline. Rectangular trampolines have a very consistent bouncethroughout the entire mat, so flips and maneuvers can be done
  • 3. more easily. Especially for cheerleading, snowboarding or gymnasticpurposes, rectangular trampolines are perfect.Single users, ages 7 or younger, a small rectangular trampoline or14’ round trampoline or smaller will be sufficient. However, if thechild is older than 7, he/she will be going through his/her growthspurt, so will require a larger trampoline. Always remember, thechild will grow taller and heavier, but the trampoline size will remainthe same. So if you’re in the market for a quality trampoline thatwill last, consider the next 3 to 10 years.
