The Director of Communications will work closely with ABIM Foundation (the
“Foundation”) staff as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives,
which will be set by the Vice President of Communications and the Executive Vice
President of the Foundation. This position will have a dual reporting relationship to these
two executives, with the primary reporting relationship being to the Vice President of
Communications.

ABIM FOUNDATIONDIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONSPOSITION SUMMARY:The Director of Communications will work closely with ABIM Foundation (the“Foundation”) staff as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives,which will be set by the Vice President of Communications and the Executive VicePresident of the Foundation. This position will have a dual reporting relationship to thesetwo executives, with the primary reporting relationship being to the Vice President ofCommunications.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications plan across the discrete audiences in collaboration with the program team and other communications staff Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, e-alerts, press releases, fact sheets, and the Foundation’s website content, etc. Manage communications consultants Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action Work with the Communications Web team and program staff to ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly Disseminate Foundation products and research to healthcare opinion elites and the media Publicize Foundation activities Drafting press materials, including press releases, op-eds, letters to the editor, etc. Writing for the web and social media Track and measure the level of engagement within the network over time Manage all media contactsKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Must possess at least 10 years of communications experience, ideally in an “in- house” leadership role within a complex (number and variety of constituents) nonprofit entity, and covering areas such as campaign strategy, message development, website content, and media relations. The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages, and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels is critical. Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies
