  1. 1. Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
  2. 2. List of all 7 Habits • Habit 1 - Be Proactive, Personal Vision • Habit 2 – Begin with the end in mind, Personal Leadership • Habit 3 - Put First Things First - Principles of Personal Management • Habit 4 – Think Win-Win • Habit 5 – Seek First to Understand and then to be Understood • Habit 6 – Synergize Trainings by Vidya Bhagwat • Habit 7 – Sharpen the saw
  3. 3. Habit 1 - Be Proactive • Pro-activity means that, as human beings, we are responsible for our own lives. Our behavior is a function of our decisions, not our conditions. We can subordinate feelings to values. We have the initiative and the responsibility to make things happen. Trainings by Vidya Bhagwat
  4. 4. Habit 2 – Begin with the end in mind • When we begin with the end in mind, we have a personal direction to guide our daily activities, without which we will accomplish little toward our own goals. • Beginning with the end in mind is part of the process of personal leadership, taking control of our own lives. • All things are created twice. We create them first in our minds, and then we work to bring them into physical existence. Trainings by Vidya Bhagwat
  5. 5. Habit 3 - Put First Things First • Habit 3 is Personal Management, the exercise of independent will to create a life congruent with your values, goals and mission. • Time management is an essential skill for personal management. • Methods of time management have developed in these stages: i. Notes & checklists ii. Calendars and appointment books iii. Prioritizing, clarifying values Trainings by Vidya Bhagwat iv. Managing ourselves rather than managing time
  6. 6. Habit 4 – Think Win-Win • Covey calls this the habit of interpersonal leadership, necessary because achievements are largely dependent on co-operative efforts with others. • He says that win-win is based on the assumption that there is plenty for everyone, and that success follows a co-operative approach more naturally than the confrontation of win-orlose. Trainings by Vidya Bhagwat
  7. 7. Habit 5 – Seek First to Understand and then to be Understood • This is Covey's habit of communication, and it's extremely powerful. Covey helps to explain this in his simple analogy 'diagnose before you prescribe'. • Simple and effective, and essential for developing and maintaining positive relationships in all aspects of life. • We often prescribe before making a proper diagnosis when communicating. We should first take the time to deeply understand the problems presented to us. Trainings by Vidya Bhagwat
  8. 8. Habit 6 – Synergize • Synergistic communication is opening your mind and heart to new possibilities. It may seem like you are casting aside "beginning with the end in mind," but you are actually fulfilling it by clarifying your goals and discovering better ones. Trainings by Vidya Bhagwat
  9. 9. Habit 7 – Sharpen the saw • This is the habit of self renewal, says Covey, and it necessarily surrounds all the other habits, enabling and encouraging them to happen and grow. • Covey interprets the self into four parts: the spiritual, mental, physical and the social/emotional, which all need feeding and developing. Trainings by Vidya Bhagwat
