  • How large is a centimeter? The width of the top of your finger
  • How large is a meter? About the width of one & 1/2 doors 1 meter
  • How large is a kilometer? A little over 1/2 of a mile 1 kilometer AVB SCHOOL PATPARGANJ DEPOT
  • How large is a milliliter? About a drop of liquid
  • How large is a liter? Half of a Large coke bottle 1 liter
  • How heavy is a gram? A paper clip weighs about 1 gram
  • How heavy is a kilogram? A kitten weighs about 1 kilogram
  • HOW TO DRAW A LINE SEGMENT TO DRAW A LINE SEGMENT OF 4 ½ CM STEP 1: mark a point on a blank sheet of paper STEP 2: keep the scale with the zero mark at the point. Hold the scale firmly with left hand. STEP 3: use the other hand to draw a line from the point along the edge of scale to the mark halfway between 4 cm and 5cm.
  • This line measures 4.5 cm 0 1 2 3 4 5 6
  • TO DRAW A LINE SEGMENT OF 5.7 cm STEP 1: SAME AS BEFORE STEP 2: SAME AS BEFORE 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 STEP 3: draw a line from 1 to 5,it will make 4 cm and then count small lines upto 7. this will make 4.7 cm
  • MEASURING DISTANCE 1 m = 100 cm THIS MEANS, 5 m = 500 cm 2 m = 200 cm 8 m = 800 cm 1m 80 cm = 100 cm + 80 cm = 180 cm
  • MORE EXAMPLES 6 m 45 cm = 600 cm + 45 cm = 645 cm 3 m 6 cm = 300 cm + 6 cm = 306 cm 9 m 9 cm = 900 cm + 9 cm = 909 cm
  • MEASURING MASS WE KNOW, 1000 g = 1 kg 1 kg = 500 g + 500 g 500 g= 250 g + 250 g it means, 1 kg = (250 g + 250 g)+(250 g +250 g ) = 4 x 250 g 1 kg = 10 x 100 g
  • SOME WEIGHTS WHICH ARE AVAILABLE IN MARKET 5 KG 2 KG 1 KG
  • FOR MEASURING LESS THAN 1 KG 500 g 200 g 100 g 50 g
  • MEASURING CAPACITY WE KNOW , 1000 ml = 1 litre 1 litre = 500 ml + 500 ml 500 ml = 250 ml + 250 ml So, 1 litre =(250 ml + 250 ml) +(250 ml + 250 ml)
  • WORD PROBLEMS If a person is allowed to carry 9 kg weight on aeroplane , then how much weight can 9 people can carry?
  • 9 kg 9 kg 9 kg 9 kg 9 kg 9 kg 9 kg 9 kg 9 kg
  • ANSWER TO QUESTION 1 PERSON CAN CARRY = 9 Kg 9 PERSON CAN CARRY = 9 Kg x 9 = 81 Kg 9 people can carry 81 kg of luggage
  • WORD PROBLEM 2 IF A LION IN A ZOO IS FED WITH 25 Kg OF MEAT , THEN HOW MANY LIONS CAN BE FED WITH 125 Kg OF MEAT?
  • 25 Kg 25 Kg 25 Kg 25 Kg 25 Kg 25 Kg
  • ANSWER TO QUESTION 1 LION IS FED = 25 kg Number of lions that can be fed with 125 kg of meat = 125 -:- 25 = 5 5 lions can be fed with 125 kg of meat.
  • Application in real life Que: Rakesh walked 470 m from his house to the market and back again . What distance did he walk in all? house M A R K E T 470 m 470 m
  • Answer to question This means in total Rakesh walked ( 470 + 470 ) m = 940 m Rakesh walked 940 m in all.
  • Question Pooh jogged 5 times around a park that had a path of length 400 m. how many km did he jog? PATH 400 m
  • Answer to question In one round he covered 400 m and he took 5 such rounds. So, distance covered by him in 5 rounds will be 400 m x 5 = 2000 m = 2 km
  • FINDING DOUBLE OF QUANTITY TO FIND DOUBLE OF A QUANTITY: EITHER MULTIPLY IT BY 2 OR ADD THE QUANTITY TWO TIMES
  • EXAMPLES WHAT IS THE DOUBLE OF:
  • 60 g 15 g 90 g 75 g 25 g 100 g 80 g 45 g 30 g DOUBLE QUANTITY
  • FINDING HALF OF GIVEN QUANTITY TO FIND THE HALF OF A QUANTITY , WE HAVE TO DIVIDE IT BY 2
  • DIVIDE INTO HALF
  • FIND HALF OF THE QUANTITY 60 g 14 g 90 g 500 g 250 g 100 g 80 g 40 g 30 g HALF QUANTITY
  • CAPACITY 1 LITRE 200 ml 200 ml 200 ml 200 ml 200 ml
  • 1 litre 250 ml 250 ml 250 ml 250 ml
  • 1 litre 300 ml 500 ml ?
  • THE END
