    • Total Area- 3,286,488 miles square
    • Land Area- 3,265,077 miles square
    • Location- east- South America
    • Neighbors- North: French Guiana, Suriname, Guyana.
    • West: Columbia, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay.
    • South: Argentina, and Uruguay.
  • 5. Geography 2!
    • Cities and their pop.- Capital: Brasilia 3,599,000. Sao Paulo 18,845,000. Rio de Janeiro 11,748,000. Belo Horizonte 5,575,000
    • Climate- tropical or semi- tropical. Tropical is nice and worm. Sometimes damp and it is very humid
    • Semi-tropical is almost the same, but sometimes cooler and more damp
  • 6. Geography 3!
    • Atlantic Coastline= 4,603 miles
    • Rains almost all year round on the coastline and the temperature is about 25 degrees Celsius.
    • North Basin Amazon= ½ of the country.
    • Navigated rivers= 15,814 miles, Amazon River measures 2,093 miles by itself.
    • North East is a scrub land
    • A scrub land in poor and heavily settled

    • South- ½ of the population lives here, 75% of farm goods and 80% of industrial output is produced here.
    • Brazil’s highlands and plateaus average about less than 4000 feet
    • Brazil’s highest point is the Peco de Neblina.
    • Peco de Neblina is 9888 feet

    • 2 major geography features of Brazil are:
    • The Paran ά , is a great river of Brazil.
    • It is the 14 th longest river in the world, running at 2,485 miles across Brazil

    • Ethnicity- white 54%, mixed 39% black 6%
    • Language- Portuguese (main language) Spanish, and English.
    • Population- 198,739,269
    • Population density- 60.9 per square mile.
    • 23.5 per square kilometer.
  • 10. People 2!
    • European people first settled in Brazil.
    • With the Europeans came African slaves
    • A famous person from Brazil is: Pele.
    • He is a famous soccer player.
    • Was born on the great coastline mountains of Brazil in the small town of Tres Coracoes
  • 11. People 3!
    • He was called Dico by his family and PelZ by his fans
    • He was a shoe shiner as a boy
    • When he was 11, a Brazilian premier players
    • 4 years later the Brazilian premier took him to the directors
    • He told the directors “ This boy will be the greatest soccer player ever ”
  • 12. People 4 !
    • By the next season Pele was the top scorer in his league
    • Pele was known to stop war and such
    • Pele had a long, successful soccer career
    • In his entire career, he scored 1,200 goals
    • Pele died on October 23, 1940
    • He is still remembered to this day as one of Brazil’s greatest soccer players!

    • Much of Brazil is religious.
    • 74% of Brazil is Catholic
    • 15% of Brazil is Protestant
    • 7% of Brazil isn’t religious
    • 4% of Brazil is a different religion, such as Christianity, Baptist, and Methodist.
  • 16. Catholic!:
    • Holidays- Easter, Advent, and Lent
    • The Catholics believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
    • They believe that only people who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ go to heaven.
    • The sinners who have not asked forgiveness for their sins don’t go to heaven.
    • They believe in the bible.
  • 17. Protestant!
    • Protestants believe in 3 main customs:
    • Supremacy of the Bible
    • Justification by faith alone
    • Universal Priesthood of Believers.
    • They also believe in God and Jesus
    • The difference of Protestant and Catholic is that Protestants organization is very different .
  • 18. Brazilian Money!
    • Brazil’s money is called “ real”.
    • Real is pronounced “/rei’a:l/”.
    • 1 Brazil real = 0.560024 U.S. dollars.
    • This is the main currency of Brazil
    • Its sign is R$
  • 19. Major disasters of Brazil!
    • They made a dam on the Amazon River. Then the dam failed. Because the dam failed, it triggered a huge black out in the surrounding places.
    • Brazil gets a lot of rain sometimes. This year they got a huge flood from rain. This flood killed 100 people instantly.
  • 20. Brazil’s Flag!
    • The stars on the flag represent constellations on the Southern Hemisphere.
    • Across the blue circle it says Brazil’s modo” Ordem e Progesseo” which means “ Order and Progress”
    • It was adopted on November 15 of 1889
    • Marechal Deodora da Fonseca was the person that made the adoption official
  • 21. Brazil’s Most Popular Sport!
    • Brazil’s most popular sport is football.
    • Brazil’s football is our soccer, so according to us their main sport is soccer, not football.
    • Soccer is in the blood of the Brazilians.
    • Brazil’s climate is perfect for playing soccer
    • It is the only country to participate in all of the “Football World Cups” to this day.
  • 22. Economy!
    • Brazil is blessed with many abundant natural resources.
    • Some of their resources are: mining, agriculture, and manufacturing.
    • Brazil is the most powerful country in all of South America
    • From 2001 to 2002 Brazil’s economy grew 2.2%.
  • 23. A Brief Summary of Brazil!
    • Brazil is a very populated country.
    • It has many abundant natural resources
    • It is the largest country in South America
    • It has many forests and rivers.
    • It is very religious
