  • Comparison between NON-AIDS & AIDS-NECROTIZING ULCERATIVE PERIODONTITIS

  • NON-AIDS TYPE NECROTIZING ULCERATIVEPERIODONTITIS
    Occurs after repeated long-term episodes of NUG.
    Necrosis and ulcerationof the coronal portion of the interdental papillae and/or gingival margin.
    Painful, bright-red marginal gingiva.
    Bleeding on even slight manipulation .
    Mouth malodor (halitosis) .
    Systemic manifestations including fever, malaise, and lymphadenopathy
  • NECROTIZING ULCERATIVEPERIODONTITIS
  • AIDS-ASSOCIATED NECROTIZINGULCERATIVE PERIODONTITIS
    The prevalence of these illnesses may be up to 5%.
    Large areas of soft tissue necrosis.
    Exposure of bone.
    Sequestration of bone fragments which sometimes extend to the vestibular area and/or the palate
    Bone loss associated with HIV-positive NUP may be extremely rapid.
    Greater numbers of the opportunistic infection
