Occupational Identity

  1. 1. FamilyFamily are themost importantthing. No matterwhat happens,we sticktogether and wework together tosolve problemsand get throughhard times butmost of all, wehave the besttimes togetherwhich leave uswith happymemories thatwill stick with usforever.
  2. 2. BoatingWithin my family we havealways had a boat. There arelots of different activities thathaving a boat gives us accessto. These are things like sea &lake fishing, water sports(skiing, wakeboarding, biscuiting), and diving.Through this family occupation, not only can we provide food, but the catching of a fishprovides us with satisfactionand a sense of achievement. We always have an award for‘catch of the day’ which lasttime (refer to image) happenedto be me! It may be a small fishbut it is a trumpeter which isone of our favourite types.
  3. 3. ShoppingLife can be stressful or even boring at times so it’s important to have an occupation thatyou rely on for a bit of distraction and general ‘cheering up’. For me, that occupation isshopping! I always feel satisfied after a few hours or even a day shopping. It’s usuallysomething that brings my Mum and I together as we have similar taste in fashion andboth enjoy spending time together away from the boys every now and then.(Career Girl Network, 2013)
  4. 4. (Conde Nast, 2013)I love to try new foods from different cultures and also try out higherclass restaurants that have the ‘quality not quantity’ approach. I feelthat eating brings people together, whether it be a special familyoccasion, a friends birthday or a meal out with my boyfriend.
  5. 5. Friends My friends: They are always ready for a good time and there forsupport when in need. Within a group of friends there’s always theimmature one, the sensible one, the quiet one, and then there’s theone who always has to ruin a potentially nice photo… yes, that’s me!
  6. 6.  Going to the gym, for a walk, doing the stairs down the streetor going out for a run are a few things that I do to keep fit. Isee fitness as being a very important part of health thereforeis something that I fit into my daily routine.
  7. 7. StudentStudent life: This consists of study, socialising, a very large student loan, long drives home, and a cold flat. It’s a lot of fun and I am loving meetingnew people and learning important life skills, most importantly - budgeting.Being a Dunedin student people tend to ask if I burn couches and sit onroof tops but in fact, I haven’t done either of those things!
  8. 8. Future OccupationalTherapistAfter having studied occupationaltherapy for over a year now, I amcertain that it is the rightprofession for me. I like to helppeople whenever I can, fromassisting an elderly to a specificisle in the supermarket to lookingafter children on weekends. I amlooking forward to the upcomingtransition into the workforce asan occupational therapist.(MedXpresStaffing, 2010)
  9. 9. TravellingI love seeing new places and doing new things. Finding placeswithin our own country that I never knew existed is so exciting andrewarding. In the years to come I plan to travel more abroad as Ibegin to make some money …
