  40. 40. Time: DeadlinesUnit 29 and Unit 1 Deadlines:Unit 29 Task 1: Friday 21st SeptemberResearch into the purpose of music videosUnit 1 Task 1: Friday 28th SeptemberResearching the context of music videosUnit 29 Task 2: Friday 5th OctoberAnalysing two music videos in great depthUnit 1 Task 2:Research in managing music videosUnit 29 Task 3: Friday 26th OctoberPlan for a specific media productionUnit 1 Task 3: Friday 26th OctoberResearch for all planning up to the productionUnit 29 Task 4: Friday 9th NovemberShooting and editing the music video into a DVD
  41. 41. Time: DeadlinesI have noticed a few issues with the pre-production and production deadlines.Firstly, the majority of the deadline dates are close together which doesn’t give usthat much time to meet the deadlines. For instance, unit 29 task 2 is allows me toget it done within 14 days. Secondly, the pre-production deadlines doesn’t supportthe production stages as the deadlines for both units are very close together (e.g.Unit 29 Task 1 Deadline: 21st Sept, Unit 1 Task 1 Deadline: 28th Sept) this doesn’tgive us much time to work on both in great depth. And finally, the deadlines forboth pre-production and production for task 3 are on the same day.
  42. 42. Time: Availability of equipmentThese are the equipment that we have available are:CANON LEGRIA HF R28Mac MiniImovie
  43. 43. Time: Booking the equipmentThe pictures show the process of booking equipment. If we need to use any equipment we need to sign our initials on the form theday we need it for (shown in the picture on the right)It is important and necessary to use the booking sheet to reserve the equipment that is needed on the day and timethat a student needs it for, this will show the other students which equipment is being used that time. Thepictures above shows an example of a booking sheet and how it is laid out.

  46. 46. Personnel: Chris CunninghamChris Cunningham created the music video for AphexTwin: WindowlickerThe size of the team holds about 30-50 people, so there aremany key crew roles.
  47. 47. Personnel: Chris CunninghamThe key crew roles within the making of the video ‘Window licker’include:Director: Chris CunninghamDoP: James HawkinsonArt Director: Lisa Kroner, Lily Zuleta, H.R. Giger, Dutch MerrickEditor: Chris CunninghamVisual effects: Pasi JohanssonCostume designer:
  48. 48. Personnel: Chris CunninghamThe skills and experience the key crew have:Costume designers enhance a character’s personality, they add colour, and even change social status.Visual effects is the image created outside the context of the live actionshoot. For example, environments that look realistic, it would bedangerous, costly and overall impossible to capture on film.
  49. 49. Personnel: Chris CunninghamEditor is often begun with the authors idea for the work they have inmind. It is the process of preparing and selecting the visual, audible, and the footage used to present information. Editors will need tohave creative skills. The Art Director are in charge of the scene painting. It creates themood of the music video and contrasts the features creating it toappeal to the target audience.
  50. 50. Personnel: Chris CunninghamDirector of photography also known as DoP and Cinematographerare the ones who plans and shoots the filming of the music video.A music video director directs the making of the music video.
  51. 51. Personnel: Chris CunninghamWhat key resources were needed for the video ‘Window Licker’?•Access to limo-scenes•Access to costumes•Visual effects unit
  52. 52. Personnel: Chris Cunningham This screen shot shows what the director (Chris Cunningham) has directed.
  53. 53. PersonnelWhat is the availability of the artist‘Aphex Twin’?Aphex Twin will not be available as he is currently in productionof a music video.I researched this on his Wikipedia page.
  54. 54. Personnel: Chris CunninghamWhat is the directors availability now?He previously worked on "New York Is Killing Me” video for Gil Scott-Heron andamie xx (in 2010)Therefore, Chris Cunningham could possibly be approached about working for a musicvideo.
  55. 55. Personnel: Chris Cunningham What was the budget for the music video ‘Window Licker’? The video is not listed on Box Office Mojo so I had to research it more. Therefore, as the length of the song isn’t ordinary compared to others (10:34 full version), the video effects and production value increase the budget of the video.

  67. 67. MaterialsThe website that can meet my costume requirements most effectively iswww.fairygodmother.co.uk/ because this website has a more of a variety of costumesand most of the costumes come in sets meaning there is no need for additional costs foraccessories or shoes. My costume requirement would be random and funny, meaningthe costumes do not have to be a specific theme so it wouldn’t be too expensive.Whereas, the other two websites had a variety also but I found it hard to find goodquality costumes with low costs. In addition to this, I noticed that most costumes do notinclude the full package, meaning there will be additional costs for other accessories.
  68. 68. MaterialsThis is an example of an average costing for a costume on the website I have decided touse.
