      • What does “tobacco control” mean?
    • Tobacco free
      • All tobacco disappears or…
      • Huge black market!
      • Farmers, traders, sellers, factory workers, etc. lose their jobs
      • Crime picks up
      • An impossible situation for the suffering addicts!
    • Tobacco control
      • Tobacco no longer treated as an ordinary consumer product, but as a harmful drug
      • Tobacco use declines; problems associated with tobacco also decline
      • Tobacco remains, so do jobs, so does the product’s availability for the addicted

      • School programs: you’re too young!
      • Voluntary restrictions: let the industry decide!
      • Keep taxes low, allow ads, vague pack warnings, respect “freedom to smoke”
    • What works…the activists’ view (International lessons)
      • Higher taxes
      • Complete ban on advertising
      • Smoke-free places
      • Strong and pictorial warnings
      • Public education in combination with above
      • COMPREHENSIVE TOBACCO CONTROL
    • What can I do?
      • Goal of this training: learn to be an activist!
      • Campaign for taxes, ad ban, smoke-free public places, stronger warnings
      • Recruit more youth and adults to the movement
      • Remember tobacco control, not tobacco free
      • The power is with us!
    • End of session!!!
