About fiber optic

  1. 1. s1190095
  2. 2. Construction of Fiber Optic  First of all, Fiber Optic cable is very small and thin. Fiber optic are made by four important parts.  1. Core  2. Cladding  3. Buffer coating  4. Jacket Core and Cladding are made by quartz glass or plastic to take good reflection.
  3. 3. Type of Fiber Optic  Fiber Optic have two types, multi mode optical fiber and single mode optical fiber. Multi mode  Lights are breaking up to lots of modes and are transmitted. Single mode  Lights are concentrated one mode.
  4. 4. How to carry lights.  Fiber optic cable make use of total reflection. Data about information are converted laser light. A refractive index of core is higher than that of cladding to propagate on core.
  5. 5. Support performance  Fiber Optic cable use these systems.  1.Transmitter  2. Optical fiber  3. Optical regenerator  4. Optic receiver For using these systems, we can transport data over long distance and take the data into our PC.
  6. 6. Good point of Fiber Optic  We can choose materials so get lots of advantage. Good points of plastic are 1. low price 2. strong in regard to arch 3. easy to connect other fiber optics or machines 4. having little weight For these reason, Fiber optic cable made by plastic was used transporting a short distance.
  7. 7. How to make Fiber Optic  Because Fiber optic cable must have high refractive index, add Germanium or phosphor in core to increase refractive index, add boron or fluorine to decrease it. First, glass is mixed with some gasses and heat it. Second, this material pour fiber drawing tower then it become too thin in order to itself weight.
