  • Adobe is helping enterprises address these challenges. Our approach is centered on a document integration layer that connects structured business systems to the unstructured ways people actually interact and communicate, giving enterprises the ability to adapt business strategy and processes throughout the enterprise to new market demands faster than their competitors . And by providing Adobe PDF as an intelligent document format that supports XML data exchange and ensures flexibility, scalability, and interoperability, Adobe is uniquely positioned to help enterprise and government customers transform their business agility and extend their current IT investments. Adding the new server-based capability creates a powerful document integration layer by automating document-based process and integrating them with transaction systems. VISION: XML data is for computers to process, and Adobe brings continuity to solutions by presenting the XML data to people for user interface, interaction, and document management. Adobe’s XML architecture enables people to participate in business processes anytime, anywhere, on any device Combining XML and PDF enables data integration as well as high-fidelity presentation Adobe is embracing business logic, routing, and integration with core business systems on XML What’s new today ….now we have the back-end system that makes desktop more relevant as the user interaction/access to business apps. .
  • IMPORTANT: Note that SOA is a superset of Web Services. Explain it!!!
  • Adobe’s product do not reflect a pure architectural view. We leverage our core competency of building great human interfaces and view SOA from the human actors viewpoint. The human actor’s “doorway” to interact with SOA is the “document”. Statistically, 90% of B2B processes involve a human being looking at a transaction at some point in time during the lifecycle of the business process or business collaboration. The human typically looks at the transaction as a “document”, since that is the easiest form of transaction viewing that humans understand. While architecturally speaking, a document (including eForms) is merely a GUI to a collection of instance data aggregated into a transaction, embracing a “document centric” view of the SOA is highly relevant to how humans perceive the SOA reality, therefore we offer a high degree of value to SOA.

      • Leveraging SOA within its’ products (2003+)
      • Leveraging SOA for integration (2004+)
      • Adobe personnel involved in SOA standards (1999 – 2004+)
    • Using XML data bridges - systems to people:
      • User interactions with systems.

  • 6. Points to Ponder
    • eBusiness interactions REQUIRE human being interactions.
    • Most human beings are FAMILIAR with paper documents.
    • A DOCUMENT may act as an interface to an enterprise process.
    • Such documents require embedded INTELLIGENCE in order to ensure the policies of the process are enforced at runtime.
    • Enterprises need more…
