  • 2. Denotation: The explicit or actualmeaning. Connotation: The implicit or associated meaning.Iconography: Things that arecharacteristic & symbolic to aparticular representation. Omnipotent: When the audience knows more than the character.Hegemony: ways in which the mediaencourage people to consent tostatus power structures. Verisimilitude: creating a sense of reality, the quality of appearing to be true or real.
  • 3. Its easy to recognise what genre a film belongs to.Audiences are known to genre because of itsreassuring and familiar patterns of repetition andvariation.Repetition is one of the main ways the audiencesunderstand the media text
  • 4. Its easy to get a audience. Its easy to choose and market your audience. Easy to market for example: a film poster/trailer.Producers can exploit a winning formula and minimise taking monetary risks.
