Uncut’s music genre that they promote is stereotypically listened by men of that age, considering that the bands were created around the years that their readers were growing up.
At a first glance of the magazine cover, the colours they use are not bright and loud, that would usually attract a younger teenage market but instead they used softer dull colours that are stereotypically associated with the older male audience. </li></li></ul><li>UNCUT circulation<br /><ul><li>IPC media revealed that of Jan/June 2010, Uncut was ‘UK’s most authoritative music and movie magazine’. With an ABC (Audited bureau circulation) of 74, 067, with 40,216 of that being in the UK.
This was a further decrease to the reported monthly circulation drop in the first half of 2007, with a drop of 90, 000 to just 75, 518 by the end of 2009.
As of June 2010, Uncut’s basic cover price was £4.60, with an annual UK subscription rate of £55.20 and €114.85 for the Republic of Ireland. </li></li></ul><li>How do UNCUT attract<br />And satisfy their audience.<br /><ul><li> Uncut is a monthly magazine and something they consistently offer to keep their loyal customers and attract new ones is a free CD with every purchase of the magazine. The music is of the classic rock genre offering old and new artists for their readers to listen to.
Uncut has been named the most authoritative music and movie magazine. It offers facts, interviews and reviews thoroughly on both music and films. Allowing their readers to gain access to lots of information in just one magazine.
Uncut offer the chance to annually subscribe to their magazine, with the fact that subscribing to the magazine saves the customer 40% instead of if they bought the magazine individually each month.
They offer subscriptions on a quarterly basis, or for one or two years.
Uncut provide their readers with the genre they are based around, but then the magazine also is the gateway for newer bands of similar genres to access their readers through free CD’s and articles etc.</li></li></ul><li>Who owns and distributes UNCUT?<br />The name of the company that owns the magazine is IPC Media.<br />It is sold monthly.<br />IPC was launched in 1997 and have five different divisions that produce different types of magazines such as women’s weeklies and men’s lifestyle and entertainment. <br />The magazine can be purchased at most big book retailing stores like WH Smith. It is also sold at most supermarkets and local newsagents. <br />
The editor of the magazine is Allan Jones. He started out as a music journalist but left his career in order to become the editor of uncut in 1997, and still retains that position today.<br />The magazine is made the way any magazine is made.<br />They probably use software similar to that of Photoshop.<br />When printing a magazine, the paper used to print the magazine is probably larger than your average A4 size so that the image of the magazine can be printed right to the edge by cutting out the non printed part.<br />UNCUT Technology<br />
