party objective education and training program is essential for the success
of medical device new technologies in China, especially for those involving
multidisciplinary approaches such as TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement).

bring early understanding on how to utilize this procedure to increase the survival rate of
heart failures patients.

TAVR China Educational Training and Exchange Program

China Med Device (CMD) worked with Barnabas Health in New Jersey, ranked number
2 in TAVR procedures volume in the United States and Fujian Union Hospital, a Leading
interventional cardiology general hospital in south China and piloted the TAVR
Symposium educational training in Fuzhou China, 2014, “TAVR, An Integrated Approach
to Improve Survival Rate.”
Effective TAVR programs need clinical expertise from cardiac surgery, interventional
cardiology, imaging, nursing care, and other supporting teams to go from the initial
effective screening of patient, diagnosis to final treatment. TAVR procedure requires a
team approach from different disciplines of medicine.
American heart association shows that TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement)
can: (1) relieve symptoms from transvalvular pressure gradient for CAS (Carotid Artery
Stenting) patients; (2) improve living quality and walking ability; (3) improve cardiac
function; (4) reverse left ventricular remodeling; (5) decrease brain natriuretic peptide; and
(6) decreases patients’ death rate when they need CAS.
In the U.S. Edwards Life Sciences is the first company that received the FDA’s approval
for TAVR devices. Recently Medtronic received its approval with the full CoreValve
platform, which includes 23mm, 26mm, 29mm and 31mm size valves delivered through
an 18Fr system. Edwards and Medtronic produce the only TAVR devices approved for
marketing in the U.S.

With the help of CMD and multidisciplinary key opinion leaders from the US, the
symposium introduced the newest research results, solid clinical practice and practical
clinical experience gained through over 200 TAVR cases at the U.S. Barnabas Health
Hospital in New Jersey. The TAVR program has 100% surgery success rate in its more

ideas and experience with the leading
cardiology hospital in China, Beijing Anzhen
Hospital for future education collaborations.
Attendees told the CEO of China Med Device after the symposium that they had a much
