What should you include in the book? <ul><li>Deciding what is on every page of the yearbook may seem like a huge task…but it is easier than you think </li></ul><ul><li>Make sure your approach is balanced in coverage & fair to all groups/people on campus </li></ul><ul><li>Make sure to set aside pages for your title page, section dividers, opening, and closing. </li></ul><ul><li>Organize your yearbook into 6 areas </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Portraits : all students and adults on campus </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Sports : all athletic events for all grades </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Clubs/Organizations : all groups on campus that are either service, task, or topic affiliated </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Student Life : all school-wide functions and activities that include all student populations </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Academics : all curricular classes or academic accomplishments of school </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Advertisements/Community : Defined by your goal of set # of pgs </li></ul></ul>
  3. 3. Tools you will need… <ul><li>The best method to use in choosing what to include on your yearbook pages involves having the proper tools. Before you plan your book, make sure you have: </li></ul><ul><li>Sample yearbooks from other schools for review </li></ul><ul><li>Last 3 or 4 yearbooks from your school </li></ul><ul><li>Calculator to determine %’s of sections </li></ul><ul><li>List of all club sponsors & clubs </li></ul><ul><li>List of all coaches & teams </li></ul><ul><li>List of all teachers and classes </li></ul><ul><li>Multiple Blank Ladder Diagrams to work out ideas </li></ul>
  4. 4. Ideas on Page Allotments <ul><li>Deciding how many pages to give to each section is based upon your school. No two schools are alike, but most schools follow a simple formula. Consider the following: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Portraits : 25% - 30% of pages </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Sports : 15% - 20% of pages </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Clubs/Organizations : 15% - 20% of pages </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Student Life : 20% - 25% of pages </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Academics : 15% - 20% of pages </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Advertisements/Community : Defined by your goal of set # of pgs </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Be aware that some schools like to have specialty sections like a SENIOR WILL section or a CURRENT EVENTS section. Plan for those page properly </li></ul><ul><li>Also, make sure you set aside a set # of pages for the title page, opening, divider pages, & closing pages. These pages usually discuss your theme </li></ul>
