Celebrate India - Good Friday & Easter Festival

Since Goa was colonized by the Portuguese their culture’s influence is still heavy amongst the local population. They seem to be genetically super-cool and will show you a good time. As expected, the architecture has a very Cuban, Latin-American feel to it. Just roam around the streets and you’ll know what I mean. Especially, during the Good Friday and Easter when the festivities and the party comes out to the street. The great cafes all around the city, especially outdoor ones are a great place to catch all the action and also a great spot to meet new and exciting people, foreigners and locals alike. Before I get into the specifics about Goa, I would like to give you one last advice, the one that I give to every single person about Goa, PLEASE hire a two-wheeler if you want to have real fun. It’s a serious cliché but honestly there is no better way to get around town.

  1. 1. Celebrate India - Good Friday & Easter FestivalDo you want no nonsense, quick, easy, fun and chilled out vacation? ………Book your tickets toGoa, period. The basic idea behind Goa is that it can be whatever you want it to be. Whetheryou are looking for luxury or adventure, cruise or road trip, Goa is a one stop destination foreach & all. You can enjoy peace on Goa’s secluded beaches or the entire hustle bustle in its fleamarkets. You can lie around in the lap of luxury in its resorts or indulge in quality night life at itsbeach parties and night clubs. By the way, these are only few of the reasons for which Goafigures amongst India’s top tourist destinations. And all this is available during the regular days,so imagine what it must be like during Easter celebrations?Well, what do you expect with all those stunning churchesand a totally over enthusiastic Christian population? It’s alljust a big party!Since Goa was colonized by the Portuguese their culture’sinfluence is still heavy amongst the local population. Theyseem to be genetically super-cool and will show you a goodtime. As expected, the architecture has a very Cuban, Latin-American feel to it. Just roam around the streets and you’llknow what I mean. Especially, during the Good Friday andEaster when the festivities and the party comes out to thestreet. The great cafes all around the city, especiallyoutdoor ones are a great place to catch all the action andalso a great spot to meet new and exciting people, foreigners and locals alike. Before I get into the specificsabout Goa, I would like to give you one last advice, the one that I give to every single personabout Goa, PLEASE hire a two-wheeler if you want to have real fun. It’s a serious cliché buthonestly there is no better way to get around town. There is not much to say about the beaches and the flea markets except that for the first one,try to find a beach away from the crowded city because that’s where you’ll likely find one thatis mellower and for the latter, bargain HARD. They do have some really interesting trinketsespecially for those who like to mix, match and most importantly experiment with their look. Incase you haven’t celebrated Easter ever before in your life I think it would be a good idea foryou to shop for a few Easter eggs. These are just beautiful looking eggs, painted with all sorts ofpatterns and colours. They sure make wonderful souvenirs and look absolutely beautiful in theshowcases back home.
  2. 2. During Easter, a visit to Old Goa is a must because that is where you’ll find all the lovely oldPortuguese churches including the World Heritage site of Basilica of Bom Jesus. Goans reallyput their heart and soul into celebrating the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ. The churches aredecorated simply but elegantly and the feasts all around the town are splendid affairs. If you are specifically looking for good night clubs and beach parties follow the localrecommendations. It works best that way. Water sports are also available on the popularbeaches. Last but not the least, for a little time with nature you can definitely check out theAgonda, a sea turtle nesting site. It is clean and quiet, an escape from the usual Goa, withinGoa.This is Joy signing off,Until next time,Wishing you a Happy Travel,Ciao.
