    • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the ranking of your site on search engines using the “natural” or “free” search results.
    • Two main ways that search engines use to determine your rank:
        • On-Page Factors - the content you have on your page and how relevant this is to what people are searching for.
        • Off-Page Factors - how popular your site is on the web. How many other sites are linking to you? How many high traffic sites mention you in their content? What text do they use when they add a link to your site on their page?

        • Target the keywords that people are actively searching for. However, don’t focus on obtaining keywords that are highly coveted for, as your new site will be competing with well established once. Thus, lowering your rank on search.

        • Ideally you want to find keywords with high search volume but with low competition

    • Keyword MUST appear in the domain name
    • It must also be present in the title tag, URL (i.e. www.buyhandsoapnow.com/buyhandsoap/ )

    • Good keyword density (2-4%)

    • Directory submissions (acts like the web’s yellow pages)
