      • Links
    • Page Filename
      • Ensures the keyword is present in the URL
      • Not advisable for the Homepage (usually index.html or default.html)
      • Use hyphens or underscores to separate words e.g. “london-dentist.html”
        http://www.yoursite.com/ keyword .html
    • Page Title
      • Be descriptive
      • Ensure page titles are unique
      • Keep titles shorter than 65 characters
        <title> keyword </title>
    • Meta Description
      • Search Engines sometimes use this as the page summary in their ranking pages
      • Be descriptive, and use calls to action
      • Including keywords will assist in ranking higher
      • Should be unique to that page
        <meta name=”description” content=” keyword ”>
    • Headings
      • H1 is considered most important, followed by H2, H3, H4...
      • Include keywords, but ensure your heading makes sense!
      • Use sparingly; ensure a good user experience
        <h1> keyword </h1> <h2> keyword </h2>
    • Body Text
      • Good copy is more important than optimising for a “nonsense” keyword
      • Don't Spam! Use keywords sparingly, and put them in meaningful places
      • Use near the beginning, and in a summary, near the bottom
        <p>Once upon a time, there was a keyword </p>
    • Image “alt” Text
      • Tells search engines what a picture is “about”
      • “alt” text appears when you hover over an image, on a page
      • Be descriptive – don't put a keyword “alt” on a spacer image, for the sake of it
        <img src=”http://www.yoursite.com/images/ keyword .jpg” alt=” keyword ”>
    • Internal Links
      • Consider the keyword of the page you are linking to not from
      • Place links to your keyword page from others on your site
      • More links to page = the more important the Search Engines will deem it to be
        <a href=”http://www.yoursite.com/ keyword .html”> keyword </a>
