  • 1. The Advancement Of Computers Over the past and into the Future!
  • 2. How Long Have Computers Been Around? <ul><li>Believe it or not the first technical computer was created around 70 years ago. </li></ul><ul><li>It weighed around 50 tons </li></ul><ul><li>Had the capacity to hold 64 words. </li></ul><ul><li>Amazingly it only took the German engineer only 2 years to create </li></ul><ul><li>He stored it in his parents living room </li></ul>
  • 3. Computers In World War 2 <ul><li>Yes there were computers in World War 2 </li></ul><ul><li>The British built a computer called Colossus I which was designed to break Nazi Military Codes. </li></ul>
  • 4. Computers in the 70’s <ul><li>The 70’s is where computer started to take off in a good way. The Altair 8800 was one of the first personal computers and it sold for $621 assembled ($439 for a kit) </li></ul>
  • 5. The Apple II <ul><li>The apple ][ which was released in the early 80’s was the dominator of all PC’s into the early 90’s. It was the first Pc to contain Apps that users could insert and use in the floppy drive. </li></ul>
  • 6. Macintosh <ul><li>The Macintosh was the successor to the widely popular Apple ][ it was the first computer to include an integrated GUI. It allowed user to interact with their computer like we do today. </li></ul>
  • 7. Computers in the 90’s <ul><li>In the 90’s computers have advanced to the point where they were able to support 3D acceleration. (3D worlds FPS’s) </li></ul><ul><li>During this time Computers have started their decline in price and an increase in functionality. </li></ul>
  • 8. The internet <ul><li>Is not just a series of tubes… </li></ul><ul><li>IT WAS NOT AL GORE!1! </li></ul><ul><li>The problem is a huge number of people worked on it. So its sort of like a mystery. </li></ul><ul><li>The internet is no where as near as fast as it is today. 56k Modems Anyone? </li></ul>

The early 2000’s <ul><li>With the invention of the failure windows millennium people fled for older windows 98 computers. </li></ul><ul><li>It was so bad Microsoft released Windows Xp which was the most adored windows operating system to date. (that is if windows 7 can live up to its title) </li></ul>
  • 10. Computers now <ul><li>Dual/ quad/ sex Core Processors </li></ul><ul><li>This means that the computer has more than 1 built in processor. </li></ul><ul><li>Most mainstream computers today feature a dual core processor. </li></ul><ul><li>More advanced video rendering computer or high ending gaming computer’s can feature quad core processors. </li></ul><ul><li>And since about quarter 3 this year AMD released a new line of processors that feature six cores! </li></ul><ul><li>But they are only meant for servers… </li></ul><ul><li>Mobile Devices </li></ul><ul><li>They feature processors, RAM and methods of ROM storage. </li></ul><ul><li>New Phones such as the Droid and IPhone feature processors at 540 Mhz. </li></ul><ul><li>And memory expanding up to 32-64 gigabytes of data. </li></ul><ul><li>These specifications rival some or most computers from 15 – 20 years ago. </li></ul><ul><li>The brand new Nexus one by google features a 1GHZ processor! </li></ul>
  • 11. Computers of the Future <ul><li>Our Houses </li></ul><ul><li>It is said computer’s will become be wired all throughout our house. Appliances can be controlled by an AI(not exactly Halo) or by a flat screen monitor located in every room. </li></ul><ul><li>Car’s and other things </li></ul><ul><li>As Paul was mentioning car’s will be running off newer resources, But computers will replace a lot of things inside of a car. </li></ul><ul><li>My Grandfather has trouble getting things to work in today’s cars </li></ul>
