    4. How to Sequence SD2008 Drawings
      • Export to PPT using “PPT” Button in SD2008
      • Copy & Paste into PPT will not work
        • Creates a static bitmap instead of a Windows Meta File
        • You can’t ungroup a bitmap
    5. How to Sequence SD2008 Drawings
      • Once you have a SmartDraw drawing exported to PPT as a meta file….
      • Ungroup it.
    6. How to Sequence SD2008 Drawings
      • Ungroup the drawing again
      • So it looks like this
Why? This allows you to select individual parts of the drawing and animate them. Because? The first ungrouping leaves the drawing within one container – if you try to animate one part of it, everything gets animated.
    7. How to Sequence SD2008 Drawings
      • Finally, start selecting individual components
        • Or groups of components
      • Select some effects
    8. How to Sequence SD2008 Drawings
      • Use the Custom Animation Panel
        • Helps control the sequence
        • And the effects
        • And the triggers
        • And the timing
      • It really does most of the work once you ungroup everything
    9. A Note
      • Some Diagrams don’t sequence as well as others
        • Flowcharts
        • Step carts
        • Other types of diagrams that use long connectors
      • The reason is that PowerPoint treats the connecting lines as one contiguous object
        • This makes it impossible to sequence them into small sections
    10. More Resources on SD2008 / PPT
      • A word about using “paste special” in PPT
      • Screencast demonstration of PPT button
      • And as always, we take questions on the SmartDraw Forums
      • Let me know if this has been helpful
