1. Keyword Grouping - Learn How to Create More Profitable Keyword Groups
Keyword grouping tools from WordStream's suite of keyword tools will enable you to quickly and efficiently manage hundreds of thousands of keywords and hundreds to
thousands of keyword groups.
In search engine marketing, effective AdWords keyword grouping is crucial. In fact, creating optimized, themed keyword groups is the key to designing and implementing high-
performance pay-per-click marketing campaigns. This is true for multiple reasons:
Higher Quality Score - How relevant an ad group is to its ad text and to its landing page plays a major role in determining the Quality Score your ads and keywords will receive.
Lower costs - This affects the minimum bid and minimum first page bid that will be assigned to your keyword, which in turn plays a major role in your overall costs.
Increased exposure - Quality Score also affects your ad positioning which can give your ads greater exposure and higher click-through rates.
Additionally, because of the long tail principle of search engine marketing, optimal SEM campaigns should consist of as many specific semantic keyword groups as possible.
Being able to effectively segment these terms into tightly related ad groups is both difficult and imperative.
This page will show you the best way to group keywords using WordStream's proprietary keyword grouping software.

intelligent keyword grouping suggestions
Our keyword management solutions for SEO and PPC provide a means of quickly turning an extensive, ever-growing body of keywords into tightly related keyword groups.
Let's imagine we're running a website that covers the real estate space. We've utilized WordStream's Web analytics tools and keyword generator to generate an extensive
keyword database. Now we can begin segmenting these actual keywords with a single click:
Here we see that WordStream is offering a series of keyword suggestions based on:
2. Relevance (!) - This metric is a combination of the number of keywords a group contains, and the amount of traffic it drives. Keyword groups that contain a lot of keywords and
drive a lot of traffic typically deserve your attention.
Keyword Percentage (%k) - This metric refers to the percentage of the collection of words you're trying to group (in this case the entire keyword database).
Visit Percentage (%v) - This number allows you to see how much of your traffic is derived from a potential keyword group segmentation.
As a result, you can instantly visualize a Quality Score friendly, semantically related keyword grouping strategy and create keyword groups accordingly.
Increasingly relevant keyword Grouping
You can continually create more and more specific keyword groupings utilizing the same process displayed above. Lets take a look at the result of our initial segmentation:
Here we see that WordStream has created the "estate(s)" grouping so that only terms containing the words "estate" or "estates" appear in this group, and has then sub
segmented the group even further.
While it is possible to create groups one at a time, an even more effective keyword grouping and organization feature of WordStream allows us to create several groups around
our initial segmented term with a single click:
Each time we segment a group, we're presented with more granular keywords to narrow it down by.
3. By selecting our more specific terms for grouping, we now we have more highly targeted groups. It's possible to write much better targeted, more compelling ads for this new
segmentation than it would have been for our original "real estate" variations:
Real Estate - This group is far too broad for a single ad. Within the real estate keyword grouping were the terms:
o real estate agent
o selling real estate
o buying real estate
o real estate search
Obviously the people searching on these terms have very different intents, and a single ad targeted to all of them will be largely ineffective.
Real Estate Agents - This is clearly better. It's much easier to write an ad that speaks to "real estate agents" than to every "real estate" term in your campaign.
Real Estate Condo - Ah; this is even better! If you could create groupings around even tighter segmentations like this, you could write highly targeted ads aimed at very specific
searchers.
The problem is being able to generate and manage all of those segmentations.
That's where WordStream comes in.
As you saw above, just a few clicks created several layers of segmentation. With a few more clicks, we can create a number of "child groups" which exist one layer below "real
estate agents". You can even create Google AdWords ad groups directly from your keyword group tree:
These segmentations have been created in minutes. Now that you've created the segmentations, some work remains. Luckily, you can do nearly all of this work from your
WordStream dashboard:
