1. Why hair transplant?
Hair loss is an embarrassing condition for many, especially when it is at a young
Many men and women suffer from baldness these days and in order to conceal
it, look for options available in the market.
Though there are many temporary solutions, the most permanent solution is
2. What is Hair transplant ?
A cosmetic procedure also known as Follicular Unit Transplantation helps to
restore hair growth. During the procedure, hair follicile (donar site) is moved to
the resistant site (bald area) a surgery which takes 4-6 hours and is performed
under mild sedation or local anesthesia.
After initially falling out, the transplanted hair regrows and will continue to grow
in the new area for as long as it would have grown in the area from which it was
taken. It also has the same color and other characteristics as the hair in the donor
area from which it was taken.
3. How are hair transplant performed?
In hair transplantation surgery a piece of the skin containing these follicles is
removed from the back and sides of the head. The follicles are then extracted from
the surrounding tissue and then are reinserted into the balding areas of the scalp.
Since the follicles themselves are not affected by the hormone DHT, they continue
to grow hair even after they have been moved from the back of the head to the
front of the head.
In most cases doctors will concentrate the placement of the hairs to the front and
top of the heads at the expense of the crown because this frames the face and give
the best aesthetic result.
4. Advantages of Hair transplant
With baldness playing a spoilsport and coming in the way of propriety- hair
transplantation is pleasingly advantageous. With hair at your disposal, you can
choose not having one out of place.
Rather than going in for artificially driven mechanisms of hair systems, hair
transplantation is far more cost effective.
One of the scientific advantages of hair transplantation relates to its uniformity
The technique is worked upon with optimization in such a way that your overall
follicular distribution remains intact.
Besides treating baldness, hair loss in areas of brow, eye lashes, face and chest
can also be revived by means of this surgical process.
5. Pointers to help choose a good place for
The doctor/surgeon performing the procedure should be an AHRS certified
The doctor/surgeon/dermatologist should have recognized training by a pioneer
in the field of hair transplantation.
The dermatologist should have extensive hair transplant training.
Do your research about the surgeon who will be operating on you and ask to see
before and after results of hair transplants they have done so far.
6. Post surgery care
Post-operative pain is nearly always completely
controllable with relatively mild pain killers such as
Tylenol 3, Vicodin or Percocet.
Shampooing is important to avoid the risk of loosing
newly implanted hair follicle during the first 7 to 10
days after the procedure.
The patient hair will begin to grow, after two to three
months of the surgery, followed by hair thickening.
The recovery is immediate, and the patient can resume
office, from day 1 after the surgery.
