  • 1 Social media is the #1 activity on the web.
  • 2 YouTube reaches more U.S. adults aged 18-34 than any cable network
  • 3 The fastest growing demographic on Twitter is the 55–64 year age bracket. This demographic has grown 79% since 2012.
  • 4 The 45–54 year age bracket is the fastest growing demographic on both Facebook and Google+.
  • 5 142 million U.S. Facebook users (and growing) are “mobile only.”
  • 6 93% of marketers use social media for business. Only 7% of marketers say they don’t use social media for their business.
  • 7 Even though 62% of marketers blogged in 2014, only 9% of US marketing companies employ a full-time blogger.
  • 8 74% of Americans are unfamiliar with the concept of checking in to a location via mobile device, and only 3% have ever checked in.
  • 9 Only 33% of Americans have ever followed a brand on social media.
  • 10 In the past year, 12 million more Americans have started to visit a social media platform daily (rounding out a healthy 22%).
  • 11 53% of Twitter users have been a member for less than a year, compared to just 19% for Facebook.
  • 12 In 2010, the Social Habit research found that just 47% of Twitter users actually sent tweets. Now, 76% of Twitter users tweet.
  • 13 68% of Instagram users are female, 70% of Google+ users are male, and at least 84% of Pinterest users are female.
  • 14 41% of internet users who make more than $50,000 per year are on Pinterest, compared to only 12% for Instagram
  • 15 73% of U.S. adults use Facebook (179 million) which means that more than a billion users are non-American
