  • 1. The Young King
  • 2.
      • Once there was a young king, who ruled a vast kingdom.
  • 3.
    • He did not like being king. Running through the forest was all he wanted to do because then he would have no responsibilities.
  • 4.
    • On an ordinary, day just like many others, a boy of the same age as the king came to him with a problem.
  • 5.
    • The boy told the king that his family was very poor and needed work so they could buy food. The forest next to his house didn’t provide enough for his whole family anymore because the king’s men had taken all the game.
  • 6.
    • “I will feed your family”, the king said to the boy, seeing a great opportunity. Come show me this forest. And so they went
  • 7.
    • When they arrived at the boy’s house, the king told the boy to show him this forest. And so he did.
  • 8.
    • The king, having a great time, frolicked through the forest long into the day.
  • 9.
    • As the day ended, the king came to the boy and lied. “I have yet to decide if this forest is truely out of food. I will come back tomorrow.” When in reality, he already knew what the boy said was true.
  • 10.
    • The next day when the king arrived, he found the boy and his family had starved to death.
  • 11.
    • Knowing he had been a horrible ruler, the king fled into the forest where no one would ask him to make decisions ever again.
  • 12.
    • To this day, no one has seen the king and his land is now a democracy. But some say if you listen close you’ll hear his stomach yelling like an abused step child in that foodless forest in which he now resides.
