Hortonville School District on Greening their Fleet

  1. 1. School Bus Emissions and Idle Reduction
  2. 2.  Since 2010 Hortonville Area School Districts Transportation Dept. has been working to improve air quality around the area of our schools, and all areas affected with our School Buses.  We have focused on two areas: 1) Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) 2) Auxiliary Heaters – Reduction in Idle Time
  3. 3.  By using the DPF, school buses are emitting less pollutants in the air.
  4. 4.  Less Idle Time to Warm Up  No Idle Time in Loading Zone at School  Bus warms quicker  Windows defrost faster  Less parent complaints about cold school buses  No need to plug bus in every night, no cords to trip over.  Less Idle Time uses Less Fuel  Less Idle Time means Less Emissions
  5. 5.  No more winter plug in  Driver’s going on “out of town” trips will not need to carry an extension cord  Just set the timer and the Auxiliary Heater does the rest
