  3. 3. 1940s–1960s ● Skateboarding was born around the late 1940's early 1950's by surfers in California, that wanted something to surf when the waves were flat it was called Sidewalk surfing ● ● ● The first manufactured skateboard was order by a California surf shop in, many early skaters emulated surfing styles and maneuvers ● ● As skateboardings popularity began to expand, the first skateboarding magazine, The Quarterly Skateboarder was published in 1963 By 1965, many claim skateboarding was to dangerous, resulting in shops reluctant in selling them and parents reluctant to buy them 1966, the sales of skateboards had dropped significantly, and the skateboarding magazines stop getting published The popularity of skateboarding was very low till the early 70's

  5. 5. 1970's ● ● ● Frank Nasworthy developed a new skateboarding wheel using polyurethane, calling his company Cadillac Wheels Skateboard trucks were first made in 1976, by Tracker trucks they were special designed to work with skateboarding wheels A competition sponsored by Cadillac wheels and Bahne skateboards called Del Mar National ● ● ● March 1976, Skateboard city Skatepark and Carlsbad Skatepark, where the first two Skateparks ever made The vert skating style was started when skaters, skated vert walls in swimming pools during the 1976 California drought This style of skating was very dangerous and led to many parks getting closed because of liability issuses
