challenge, uses writing and editing skills and some require more research than others.

Worked in the Poverty Law Department of this non-profit law firm. Types of law: Residential Tenancy,
Welfare, Foreclosure, EI, WCB. Interviewed Clients and wrote a concise intake report of their situation.
Often dealt with evictions and crisis management was a must. Prepared judicial review documentation.
Attended monthly clinics with speakers from non-profit organizations.Took over intake call duties instead of
them being shared between assistants. Attended WestCoast Bailiffs training session. Software: Adobe Reader
and Microsoft Office. Also attended Povnet Introduction to Advocacy Course. Dealing with highly stressed
clients with mental health/social issues. Referrals of Clients to appropriate organizations.

Planning Support Officer/ Clerical Assistant Press Office at Macclesfield Borough Council
2001 - 2003 (2 years)
Worked as a Support Officer in the Planning Department of the Town Council. As part of a special project
wrote some press releases, "Good News Stories" for the Planning Department. The stories were mentioned in
the Planning Department's Best Value Report and appeared in the regional press. Was then seconded to the
Town Council's Press Office as the Press Officer's Assistant. Talked to the media on a daily basis and drafted
and wrote press releases. Set up photo opportunities and sent out photo notices. Liased with heads of service,
Chief Executive, Councillors and Directors of Services. Placed an interview for East Cheshire Health on
Radio GMR through Health Inequalities Fund release. Maintained archives of press clippings. Set up and
maintained 'News Flash' a database for press inquiries and other information. Assisted the Press Officer in
situations where crisis management was needed.
Crisis Management situations:
Disabled man dumped recycling outside Town Hall with local press there.
Students protested outside Town Hall because of the impending closure of school. Magazine editor with press
contacts and gripe with Planning Department threatened to camp out at Town Hall with her own magazine's
photographer, charging the Chief Planning Officer £280.00 for each hour she was there.

Worked as a Copy writer and Account Manager for this small business which had two directors and one
employee. The clients were mostly housebuilders: Landhaus, Linden Homes, Elite Homes. Another client
was Rugby Cement. Wrote Press Releases and developed original content to support marketing campaigns.
Duties were communication with client, writing, editing, proofreading. Met deadlines and ensured accuracy.
