Explore the meanings of shopping. </li></ul><ul><li>The Writing’s on the Wall: the messages of public language from signage to graffiti. </li></ul>

The 1000 word exploration: <ul><li>You need to collect more ‘secondary’ material to use in this essay – as well as your own personal observations. </li></ul><ul><li>These ‘secondary’ sources may include: newspapers, magazines, books, web-sites, film, radio and TV. </li></ul><ul><li>You can also conduct interviews. </li></ul>

Songs that saved your life? <ul><li>Read the lyrics to ‘Common People’ by Pulp. </li></ul><ul><li>Then note down your answers to the following questions: </li></ul><ul><li>What are the lyrics saying about life? </li></ul><ul><li>Do you agree with the lyric’s message? </li></ul><ul><li>What line or verse do you think is most important to the message of the song? </li></ul><ul><li>Who would like this kind of song? Do you? </li></ul><ul><li>Write an extra verse of your own to fit the song! </li></ul>
