Weboptimiser used earch engine marketing techniques to optimize video content to attract the attention of the online public in order to inform London's Mayor of the needs of small businesses and the easy steps that the new mayor could take that would help the city, its citizens and the general public.
64% of all people in work in London (UK) work for small business. The campaign called Open for Business was devised by the Federation of Small Business and Weboptimiser were employed to produce and promote the video online.
As a result of the combined efforts of the FSB, after the election, the Mayor and other parties adopted key recommendations of the Federation of Small Business and the FSB has been increasingly involved in local politics ever since. Specifically, just over 1400 people watched the video (according to YouTube stats combined with Google Analytics on Weboptimiser.com) within a few weeks of the video production being uploaded.
