  • -- About 1 minute will be used to describe the oculus and its history---What I am currently using a device called the Oculus Rift---It is a head mounted device that produces a 3d image for your eyes. ---The difference between this device and those that you see at your local theater are that----It produces a three dimensional environment that can be viewed from 360 degrees----There is a chip that tracks your head movements to control what you are looking at---This device was created by Palmer Luckey in 2012 and a kickstarter campaign was raised.---They raised around $2.4 million dollars off of kickstarter alone---And the kicker? This development kit only cost $300 dollars. A low enough price for consumers to adopt.
  • But what exactly is virtual reality? I’ve struggled with this question because how do we communicate to people when the tools we are currently using, just aren’t enough
  • I could vocally describe to you what virtual reality is-- Virtual Reality enables us to simulate the real world or an imaginary world. To be in places only ever dreamed up.

  • How about a video of a 90 year old grandma?
  • Or a wife riding down a roller coaster
  • Maybe if I could spark your curiosity you can under
  • Imagine being able to Virtually tour a location, say Paris, before making a purchasing decision on whether to go on vacation there.
  • Imagine if football fans were able to virtually experience a football game with their friends even though they all live many thousands of miles away.
  • Imagine what education could be like if instead of being told how history happened, we could go back in time and actually experience the moment. To really understand how everyone felt.
  • Urge you not to sleep on this technology
  • Because, imagine, imagine the types of companies, the types of problems we could solve if everything we imagined, we could create
