  4. 4. Curation is not republishing • Curation makes sense only if it provides a really good quality filter that can replace the need to consult different sources. • The key element is the expertise and focus of the curator, and the topic that he has selected. • Curation is an effective means to build a strong relationship with a tribe of passionate niche users to be involved 4
  5. 5. A good content curator… • … always keeps in mind the audience and focus of his/her channel • … re-thinks and modifies titles, descriptions, ecc. • ... formats and personalises his/her contents • … highlights text to help the reader • … add an introduction and metadata to the content • ... verifies the sources and always gives credit • … shares, discusses, suggests, entrusts 5
  6. 6. Content curation, copyright & fair use 12 Best practices from Curata – Reproduce only small portions of the source content – Always give credit and link to the source – Provide your contribute: retitle, comments, etc. Common sense approach to copyright (Socialfresh) – Always Ask First – Quoting News and People – Creative Commons – Are You Helping Them? 6
