• Today, more than 49 million Americans are struggling
with hunger.
– 1 in 6 people
• More than 17 million of those facing hunger are children.

5. • Hunger affects every community in the U.S.
• In 2008, households with children reported
food insecurity at almost double the rate for
those without children, 21.0 percent
compared to 11.3 percent.

Our mission is to feed Americaʼs hungry
through a nationwide network of member
food banks and engage the country in the
fight to end hunger.

• We are the nationʼs leading domestic hunger-relief charity.
• Our network is comprised of national office in Chicago and more
than 200 food banks that fight hunger from coast to coast, right in
your hometown.
• Feeding America distributes more than 2.5 billion pounds of food
and grocery product annually.

• Feeding America is annually providing food to 37 million Americans,
including 14 million children. This is an increase of 46 percent over 2006,
when we were feeding 25 million Americans, including 9 million children,
each year.
• That means one in eight Americans now rely on Feeding America for food
and groceries.
• Feeding America's naKonwide network of food banks is feeding 1 million
more Americans each week than we did in 2006.
• Thirty‐six percent of the households we serve have at least one person
working.
• The number of children the Feeding America network serves has increased
by 50 percent since 2006.
