  • 1. BIM Objects
  • 2. What is BIM? Building Information Modeling (BIM) allows architects and engineers to create ‘smart’ 3D models that include embedded data such as size, r- and u-values, energy use data, lifecycle cost information, and heat signature.
  • 3. Who uses BIM? BIM is the latest evolution in drafting technologies adopted by nearly 80% of architects, engineers and specialists.
  • 4. How does BIM work? In a traditional drawing if a wall is moved, conflicts and disconnects can be created between the wall and related windows and openings. In a BIM model, the relationship between these objects is maintained.
  • 5. Advantages of BIM to Architects & Engineers • Required by some State and Federal agencies • Intelligent system interference / clash detection tests • Easy coordination between several parties • Rapid generation of design documents • Ability to run system tests early in the design process.
  • 6. Advantages of BIM to Product Manufacturers • BIM’s data management tools encourage designers to schedule and test models of actual products and materials • Owners and Designers can see the size, shape and specifications of YOUR products in a 3D model • Embedded 2D details saves Designers time and money
  • 7. BIM Object Collections Are the New Product Library Many manufacturers supplement product binders and material samples with full BIM object collections.
  • 8. Worldwide Digital Product Libraries In addition to distributing collections through product representatives and company websites, there are several popular 3rd Party websites that host thousands of product collections.
  • 9. Invest in BIM Objects for Your Products Compatibility with new BIM technology will ensure a competitive advantage for your products. Easy availability of your products in BIM will boost specifications and sales.
  • 10. Creating BIM Objects To avoid high software costs and steep in-house learning curves, manufacturers are turning to outside vendors – such as architecture firms – to create their BIM models
  • 11. BIM at FitzGerald • Considered industry experts • Experienced at creating useable BIM objects • Highly experienced Revit users who have designed and detailed buildings with the software • Outstanding accuracy and practical usability of all BIM objects that FitzGerald creates
  • 12. FitzGerald BIM Objects • Revit platform • 3D model geometry • Embedded parametric behavior • Plan and elevation 2D representations • Specification data • Rendered appearance with photorealistic material maps • DWF of object
  • 13. Sample Object • Commercial Window Series • 1’-4” x 1’-4” Awning Window • Fiberglass Frame • LOW-E Glass Pane
