  • 1. God has given us everything we need to perform His will Hebrews 13:20-21 May the Lord…equip you with everything good for doing His will. But what can you do if you still haven’t discovered God’s will for your life?
  • 2. • What happened to the dreams that you laid on my heart all those years ago and why have they stalled or apparently evaporated? • How come my circumstances dictate differently to what I know you‟ve put on my heart to do? • Why do I still not know the direction you want me to go? Questions in the wilderness
  • 3. 1 John 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Thoroughly test your calling – get confirmation
  • 4. How did St Paul match his job?
  • 5. Qualifications How well qualified was Paul? He received excellent legal and theological training Acts 22:3 “…I studied under Gamaliel and was thoroughly trained in the law of our ancestors. I was just as zealous for God as any of you are today…”
  • 6. Related experience? What was Paul’s prior experience? Philippians 3:4-6 If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless. He had excellent pedigree and had a proven track record for being zealous!
  • 7. Known ability? How suited was Paul’s ability to his role? He was a man of many talents! – Including being observant and creative Acts 17:23 For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.
  • 8. Personality fit? How did Paul’s personality fit his role? Paul was assertive – He did not ‘pull his punches’ when he knew he was right! Galatians 2:11 When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong.
  • 9. Present Circumstances? How did Paul cope with circumstances? Paul was adaptable – he didn’t allow circumstances to take his eyes off the Lord Philippians 4:12 I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
  • 10. How much your heart’s desire? How did Paul’s passion match his role? Paul was completely sold out to Christ! Philippians 3:8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ.
  • 11. Prophetic confirmation? How did the prophetic guide his role? Acts 21:10-11 … a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. Coming over to us, he took Paul‟s belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, “The Holy Spirit says, „In this way the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.‟” Paul allowed himself to be guided by the prophetic

Peter declared that Paul’s knowledge of God was so profound that he even confused him! 2 Peter 3: 15-16 …just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him…His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, Did anyone else confirm his ability to perform his role?
