1. Main product: Horror teaser trailer
Ancillary texts: Film Poster & Film
magazine front cover
2. Throughout the whole stages of my coursework I had to make sure that I created a strong and effective brand image for
my film so that my product is easily identified by the audience through the Magazine cover, Horror trailer, Film poster. I
had to make sure that each stage had a connection so that the audience can know that they are all result from the same
film, so that the combination of all these marketing campaign gives my film a good image. The elements that help
construct a good brand image include; Text, colour, using the main character in most of the stages, film title, and the
design which is important.
I wanted to concentrate on using my main character as my USP and ensuring that the creature is the centre of attraction, this is
why I included the image of the creature both in my poster and magazine cover. For the poster and magazine cover I did not
want the face of the creature to be seen because keeps the audience anticipated and adds mystery to the audience e.g. for
example in the film scream the face behind the mask is never shown because the audience are made to go and watch the film
in the cinema to find out who it is.
I also focused on using the same colour scheme for; Poster, Magazine cover, and Horror trailer which was mainly black and
white and some red for the magazine. I decided to do this because like The Blair Witch Project poster which I got my
inspiration from, I wanted my poster to be simple but at the same time use techniques which entice the audience. I used the
colour white for all of my text in the three stages because I feel that it gives the audience a hint to what my film will be
about, for the magazine I used a bit of red simply because it looks to dull and magazines are meant to be colourful.
I decided to break the convention of having the main character on a magazine has the centre of attraction, instead I put the
poster of my film on the cover making it the largest image because as I was making a special edition cover on Top 10 films
based in the woods, I decided to introduce my film to the list ranking my film no.1, I did this to gain the popularity of my
film since the poster is on one of the best film magazines ever and to increase the word of mouth of my product.
I wanted to make a special edition for my magazine because looking at most of the magazine I researched on, the magazine
would use phrases like Best issue ever to persuade the audience to buy it, so I thought if I made it a special collector’s
edition I would only release small amount of copies which will persuade the audience to buy it quicker, secondly making
my magazine a collector’s edition means that there will be another edition to follow it since it is a collector’s edition, and
the audience would not want to miss the first edition. I also targeted the special collector’s edition to fans who like horror
films based in The Woods.
I gave the audience a hint of my story line on all three stages of my product so that the audience can see the connection and
then going to the website to uncover more about the film, this inspiration came from The Blair Witch project.
3. The colour scheme used in all of my products
The colour scheme was effective in establishing the genre of my film; I used the colour white stages of my coursework, I used it for the
Text mostly because it gives a clue to the audience to what my film will about because the colour white for my products represents the
supernatural, Ghosts, and simplicity. I used the colour black mostly for the background in some aspects of my poster, the trailer, and the
magazine because the colour Black represents Dark, Mysterious, isolation and the colour of the creature is black which represents evil.
I was determined on using the main character (the creature) in all three stages of my product so that the creature can be seen as an icon
like in most horror trailers I analysed they would use the creature as the trademark of the film for example Final destination. Also I
gave the creature a costume which is a grim reaper costume so that the audience can always identify his long gown and long hood for
example like the Horror film scream (Mask) , without knowing what he looks like.

4. Fonts used in all Products are Times New Romans and Geneva
The font that I used in all stages of my course work is Times New Romans and Geneva, I used these fonts mainly because of the simplicity
that it conveys on all aspects of my product just like The Blair Witch Project, I used Geneva simply because on the software I used for the
inter titles font on my trailer ,Live type, there wasn’t any Times New Roman so I had to look for something that was similar to it, apart
from that I used Time New Romans for the rest of my coursework which was for; Poster and Magazine cover.

Style and design of my Magazine Title
For my magazine Empire font I changed the conventional font so that it subjects to theme of Horror films based in the Woods, I
pasted an image of branches on the background of my Empire logo so for the WOODS theme. Researching on Empire special
edition magazines and themes of the films they promote, for the film they are promoting they would change the original Empire
font so that it matches the theme of the film they are promoting for example for the film Hell boy the Empire font was fiery
red, this is where I got my inspiration from. On my magazine cover I made the name of my film the biggest font because this is a
general convention used in magazine covers.
5. Taglines And inter title that I used throughout all my products are;
For the inter titles I used in my trailer which is two students go in search for an urban myth, since then they were never seen again I also used it
on my poster and magazine cover just as The Blair Witch Project did for their poster and trailer, simply because it gets the audience involved with
storyline and gives the effect that an urban myth is been told to the reader which fascinates the readers interest to the film by wanting to find out more
on how the story ends, it also jugs the audiences memory of how the storyline is told.
Film Poster Trailer
In conclusion I think that the construction of my entire product as allowed the image of my film
to be of a high significance through conventional techniques used throughout the whole process.
If there was something I could change in my product I would have liked to create like a logo or
symbol which will make my film more recognisable to the audience just like what The Blair
Witch project did on their poster by having , lastly I would have also like to construct my film
trailer in a more detailed way.
