ITT’s General Characteristics <ul><li>Yasuni’s Area: 2.5 million acres </li></ul><ul><li>One of the areas with the greatest biodiversity on Earth ( one hectare has same number of species as all North America with around nearly 700 animal species) </li></ul><ul><li>First Nations’ territory </li></ul>

Ecuador’s economy <ul><li>Average per-capita incomes: 4,700 US$/year (1/10 of average Canadian incomes) </li></ul><ul><li>Population:13.5 millons in ab area of 250,000 km2 </li></ul><ul><li>Unemployment rate: 12% (52%) </li></ul><ul><li>35% of the annual budget correspond to oil exportation </li></ul>
  5. 6. <ul><li>Discovered in the 70’s, but too expensive to be exploited </li></ul><ul><li>API degree: 15 (heavy oil-high water production: ratio 1 to 4) </li></ul><ul><li>Building of an Up-Grader Plant </li></ul><ul><li>Production cost: US$ 12/bbl = 700 M/y (rate of return 14%) </li></ul><ul><li>Oil in Place estimated in more than 5 billon barrels (Recoverable 1 billon barrels) </li></ul>ITT Project
