  • 2. The Formative Years
  • 3. It all began a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
    Brooklyn – 1933.
  • 4. Ellin spent her summers on a farm in Connecticut. In addition to milking cows and tending to her chores, she took good care of her horse, Patches.

  • 5. Ellin and her family before her cousin’s wedding.

  • 6. Harry sweeps Ellin off her feet!
    September 11, 1960
  • 7. Three shining beacons of light arrived over the years: Deborah, Susan and William.
    Ok, so maybe they were not angels all the time, but they turned out pretty darn good!
    Los Angeles – 1968.
  • 8. Three generations of Louria’s.
    Orange County, California – 1980.
  • 9. The kids and grandkids enjoy another family vacation.
    Jackson, Wyoming – 2005.
  • 10. The family comes together for Harry’s 75th birthday.

  • 11. The Medical Years
    1956 – 1998
  • 12. “The Doctor is In!”
  • 13. Childrens Hospital: Ellin’s home away from home.
  • 14. Ellin and Dr. ShaulMassry at her retirement party. CHLA – April 1998.
  • 15. In 2005, Ellin was deeply moved by the devastation from Hurricane Katrina.
    So she decided to do something about it.
  • 16. Benefits were held. Donations of money and clothing were collected. And, of course, quilts were made by the pattern-load.

  • 18. Ellin’s point man in Louisiana: Dr. Matti Vehaskari, Professor of Pediatrics, Children’s Hospital of New Orleans.
  • 19. Combining art and quilting to help the victims of Katrina.

  • 20. From Russia With Love
  • 21. Have kidneys, will travel.
    Orenburg, Russia – 1995.
  • 22. Ellin helped make it happen over a 10 year period with more than 10 different trips to Russia. (Talk about frequent flyer miles!)
  • 23. Helping to raise money for the Russian-American Medical Project (RAMP).

  • 24. Of course, seeing the sights of St. Petersburg, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, was a major side benefit!

  • 30. Harry was always glad to help out. He’s such a ladies’ man!

    Translation: The Book Club comes to Milan Avenue.
    1988 – Present.
  • 32. So many books; so little time.
  • 33. Mrs. Lieberman goes to Washington (well, not really).
  • 34. 2003: The Democratic Party Recruits Its Next Star!
  • 35. Working for Democrats on the local and national stage.
  • 36. Recruiting starts at home.
  • 37. House Party for Obama’s campaign.

  • 38. If at first you don’t succeed...
  • 39. ….help the guy who didn’t have a shot in hell to win!
  • 40. Ellin & Harry made thousands of phone calls working to make healthcare reform a reality. (And, they now know how to use Skype, too!)
  • 41. And, of course, Harry has been at her side for every step of the wonderful journey.
