    W3 Presentation_ENG - Presentation Transcript

    1. Introduction W3 has grown up with the Internet. We were building web sites before Flash existed, Sony made laptops, or your mouse had a wheel. From our birth in 1995, with one founder in his kitchen in Sweden and another in his living room in Argentina, we’ve grown up to be a CMMI-certified Digital Agency with 75+ employees serving clients in more than 20 countries. W3 exists to help clients see digital opportunities and realize digital success. We don't have a "solution box" we'll squeeze your problem into - we have ears that will listen and minds that will partner with you to build a result that will delight you. Our clients can testify that we are quick learners and soon will "get" your business need - one reason is that our team is lead by four partners who have diverse and complementary experience in Technology, Communications, Design, Banking, Sales, Marketing, and General Management. Chances are we can speak your language. Our production team is made up of Project Leaders, Designers, Programmers, and support staff. Our R&D team works in conjunction with university think-tanks to help the industry as a whole, and W3 in particular, to continually evolve. W3's aim is to build and grow long-term relationships with its clients. There are no shortcuts to this goal - we focus on attracting exceptional people and building exceptional professionals so we can deliver exceptional value to our client-partners. What we do [and don’t] What we do is help our clients define and achieve business goals via technology. We don’t just build to a plan for a fee. We pride ourselves in helping our client-partners create solutions that are better than they first imagined. Over the years we've developed several areas of expertise: • Web Consulting • Web Design • IT Consulting • Mobile and Web Application Design and Development • Internet Marketing • Internet and e-mail Campaign Management • Search Engine Optimization • e-Commerce • e-Learning • Usability and Navigability • Web Analytics • Web 2.0 Corporate Services You may have seen some of our work for Citi, BMW, McDonald’s, Nestle, Palm, Dish Network, Snap On, Bunge, Global Finance, Duke Energy, AIG Group, Techint Group, Total, or Swiss Medical.
    2. Some of Our Work Citibank Latin America Web sites One of the advantages of Citibank is its global presence and the power of its global products. Another great thing about working with Citibank in your home country is the local feel from your local banking team. Citibank needed a way to translate both of these business strengths online. To help them achieve this goal, W3 developed WCKoL (Web Construction Kit online). With WCKoL each country webmaster can customize content quickly and dynamically to meet his/her local needs through a friendly non-technical interface. At the same time, the system guarantees this content is presented within regional and global branding and look-and-feel guidelines. Our partnership with Citibank Latin America has resulted in websites that are considered among the most consistent in terms of branding and look & feel within Citi. Since 1996 when we built Citibank Argentina’s first web site, we’ve had the privilege of helping Citi grow its internet and Intranet capabilities by developing corporate and consumer bank web sites for many countries and several distinct business units (International Personal Banking, Global Executive Banking, etc.) http://www.citibank.com.co http://www.citibank.com.pa http://www.citibank.com.ar http://www.citibank.com.uy http://www.citibank.com.br http://www.citibank.cl http://www.citibank.com.pr http://www.citibank.com.pe http://www.citibank.com.ve http://www.citibank.com.do
    3. BMW Latin America BMW creates ultimate driving machines using passion, precision, and rigorous engineering - and we admire them for it. So when BMW Latin America wanted to take W3 on a "test drive" - we were flattered. As the test drive became a road-trip, we were able to help BMW Marketing develop a Latin America-wide Intranet. This robust portal uses interactive and collaborative Web 2.0 features to create a digital meeting point for BMW dealers and the BMW marketing community across the region. The site uses permission- based access technology to enable dynamic content delivery fostering the free-flow of ideas, marketing material, best-practices, and dealer performance evaluations. Of course, this portal is built to exacting BMW standards within global branding guidelines.
    4. McDonald’s Argentina, Chile & Uruguay Show any kid these arches and their eyes light up – McDonald’s wanted to bring the fun online for the children and also engage the parents in a meaningful way. We worked with McDonald’s to develop a Flash site that would be able to reach both audiences. The result was a site that delivered fun and games for the kids while directing parents to nutritional and quality control information, special offers, and a restaurant locator. To help our client-partner turn brief site visits into longer-term relationships, W3 developed a one-to-one e-mailing system which allows McDonald’s to generate targeted, customized communication with relevant information and offers. http://www.mcdonalds.com.ar http://www.mcdonalds.com.uy http://www.mcdonalds.cl
    5. Kleenex USA viral contest Our client agency had the excellent idea of working with Kleenex to manufacture boxes with customized Hispanic flavor artwork enabling Hispanics to express their pride in heritage directly through the brand. The challenge for us was how to generate buzz and support online with zero budget - the answer was to make it viral. We built a classy, bilingual, and color-rich “gallery” displaying the 12 finalist’s artwork both on Kleenex boxes and in full artwork mode. The interactive design encouraged clicking and contained a clear call-to-action to “vote for your favorite”. Each vote enabled the user to send an email to up to 6 others to also vote for their favorite. People began to spread the word through facebook, myspace, que pasa, and other social sites and soon the number of votes ballooned to over 20x the expected planned number. The campaign has helped to improve brand affinity within the target market and is expected to translate into a significant sales bump when the winning boxes hit the shelves. http://www.expresatuhispanidad.com
    6. Snap-On Snap-on knows tools - they also know their clients. When a "Young Techs" study they commissioned showed a clear generational shift in approach to life and tools for young technicians, they decided it was time to add some torque to their brand. Our design team had fun with this one - the chance to play with a great brand and logo and update it for a new generation of tech-savvy, car-tuning techs was an enjoyable challenge. This pure design job included both logo and web design.
    7. Hillstar Insurance (Infinity Property and Casualty) Hillstar’s parent company is one of the major forces in the US substandard Insurance market. The Hillstar was brand launched to capitalize on this experience and with a standard market product through sold through a network of independent dealers. We partnered with the Hillstar launch team to help craft everything about the online experience from a welcoming and engaging user experience to the interactive agent portal which is critical to the brand’s success. We also helped build the copy for this fully bilingual site. We were thrilled with them as we saw the number of policies written grow exponentially over a few short months. http://www.hillstarinsurance.com
    8. Bunge – Blackberry / SAP Integration We place a high value on long-standing relationships with clients, so when an existing client expresses a new need, we work extra hard to find a creative solution. In this case, our client asked us to help facilitate their purchase orders and approval process. The solution came in recognizing three rather common corporate characteristics: 1) The use of SAP as a ERP solution 2) Sr. Managers who are issued company BlackBerrys 3) A purchasing process that uses multiple approval levels. W3 worked with our client to create a Blackberry application that directly interfaces with their SAP portal so the business never has to slow down while waiting for sign-offs. Executives can now use their smartphones to ensure the purchase and review system runs smoothly day in and day out.
    9. Consumer Eyes Marketing is a science that has to be practiced like an art. The team at Consumer Eyes has that marketing zen ability to translate experiential knowledge to actionable business and branding strategy. They are those interesting people at the party who saw the same thing you did, but have an insightful take on it that maybe you had missed. Our challenge here was to design a site that was clean and informative but also clearly displayed our client's corporate personality. www.consumereyes.com
    10. Camisea – Gas Pipeline Construction Project Management System Four major companies working together on one of the most ambitious pipeline projects ever conceived were struggling with how to work efficiently - who wouldn’t? W3 built a web based control panel enabling users to follow construction of the gas pipeline as it makes its way across the jungles of Peru. This complex application integrates several systems across several companies and provides a common interface to multiple data entry sources. It helps visualize and detect divergences from project targets. In other words, the foreman in the middle of the jungle can input his progress and the entire system will adjust and create project alerts if necessary – we think that’s pretty cool.
    11. Green Citi Minisite We're highlighting this one because we are proud to be a part of it. W3 was given the chance to participate in Citi Argentina’s project to reduce paper consumption and raise awareness for some worthy environmental projects. Digital work doesn’t always need to be complex to be impactful – here endangered animals take center stage while the elegant visuals and animation graphically reflect the call for all of us to bring the right focus to environmental management. www.argentina.citibank.com/promos/greenciti/site.html
    12. Palm Latin America Palm wisely went looking for help in approaching the Latin American market - we're glad we volunteered. We got the chance to understand this innovative company better and help them develop and execute their online strategy for the region in general, and Argentina, Chile, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, and Mexico in particular. The solution fell broadly in two camps: 1) a complete internet site with product information, downloads, contact information, etc. and 2) online and email marketing campaigns featuring interactive flash sites and viral message sharing. http://www.palm.com/ar/ http://www.palm.com/mx/ http://www.palm.com/cl/ http://www.palm.com/co/ http://www.palm.com/pe/ http://www.palm.com/ve/ http://www.palm.com/latin/
    13. Citibank – CE InSite CitiGold Executives are the face to the client for the global Wealth Management business in Citibank internationally. As our client explained their vision to keep these Executives up to date with everything from information from market trends to regulatory documents to prospectuses to global economic outlooks – we envisioned a rather simple site. Then they told us about compliance! Laws in every major market were different and they needed to comply with each of them. So..with our client’s technology unit as a willing partner, our IT and Web Design teams created CE InSite, one of the first applications to be built from ground–up around Citi’s proprietary global single sign-on platform. The site takes full advantage of Citi’s system to dynamically display appropriate information at Country, Business, and user levels. It has become one of those rarities in the corporate world – a tool that both Compliance and Sales can agree on.
    14. Citibank.com in Spanish Anyone who has traveled across borders knows there’s a difference between knowing words and actually communicating. So we were pleased when Citi asked us to leverage our expertise in the Latin America market to create the Spanish version of Citibank.com in the US. Citi shared our vision that Citibank.com/espanol should be more than a word-for-word translation of the English site; the result is a site that stays within branding guidelines while delivering a customized experience targeted to the US Hispanic audience. In short, we enjoyed helping Citi create a site that doesn’t just speak, it communicates. http://www.citibank.com/espanol
    15. Citigroup Latin America – e-learning Portal All professional services companies have to make sure their employees’ training is up-to-date. In an organization that has thousands of people spread over multiple countries, languages, and business models, this critical task takes on tremendous complexity. To help address this challenge W3 built an e-learning portal for Citi Latin Amercia that customizes the experience for each person. Each employee has a virtual Personal Trainer that helps them see mandatory courses, research available courses, review their training history, and sign-up for new courses as well.
    16. Alico (AIG Group) AIG has the “strength to be there” all over the world. So we relished the chance to help AIG in Argentina (Alico) “strengthen their presence” online. The design ambition was a very modern looking yet clean, light, and easy to navigate web site. Alico now has a full-fledged site including information about products and services, career opportunities, info for brokers and a gateway to a company representative that will handle incoming requests. http://www.alico.com.ar
    17. One World Since we have clients in over 20 countries, it's a good thing we like to fly. So we were excited to have the chance to build and help execute an online marketing program for the premier airline alliance in the industry - One World. W3 built the online and database interface to make sure the trip-giveaway contest ran smoothly. Unfortunately, none of us won the trip to Europe or Australia.
    18. Swiss Medical Group If the waiter gets your order wrong it’s an inconvenience. If your doctor gets the wrong information… well, that can be scary. In the medical field, having the right information at the right time is more than critical. So we were honored that Swiss Medical Group, the leading HMO in Argentina, asked us to help it manage information. First, we partnered with Swiss Medical to build an intranet that provides critical and timely information to its 3,000 employees. Second, W3 helped build and implement a system to manage all the appointments in all Swiss Medical’s health centers across Argentina. We are pleased to be a part of the way Swiss Medical Group “gets it right” for thousands of patients every day.
    19. Bunge Bunge improves agribusiness; improved agribusiness improves lives – and Bunge improves thousands of them. So when we were given the chance to improve Bunge’s business, we gladly accepted. Bunge Argentina is a leading agribusiness in the country; it has over 1,000 employees and it generates work for another 10,000 people. The first thing W3 did was install a customized SAP Portal as the main intranet tool so these teams could better manage their corporate information and internal flows. The second thing we did was develop a custom extranet tool that enables Bunge to provide services and functional applications for producers in the farming sector. http://www.bungeargentina.com
    20. Duke Energy Like many other businesses, our growth has come mostly from referrals. When Duke Energy in Argentina wanted to boost its online presence, they asked around and heard great things about W3 and our track record of successful partnerships with Energy sector clients - we were excited to begin working with one of the leading energy firms in the US and the Americas. We rebuilt their site in terms of design, language (complete site is in both English and Spanish), and increased functionality. Beyond the navigability, adherence to global branding guidelines, and a section with press releases and newsletters, we also created a secure customized web interface for a part of Duke's legacy system where large institutional clients can manage their wholesale energy accounts.
    21. TGN (Techint Group) Both managing energy and managing internal information is complex. Our client in this case is an expert in the first, and tapped us because we’re experts in the second. TGN (Transportadora de Gas del Norte, a member of the Techint group) is the largest gas pipeline management company in Argentina. Its management team asked us to improve the ease and security of information flow between its offices around the country. After extensive assessment and consulting we deployed a customized version of FLOiDD (a content management platform developed by W3). Today, project creation and document sharing is easily performed in all their offices around the country. The right set of user permissions plus the flexible way FLOiDD manages content publishing made access to vital information faster, while filtering out material not relevant for a specific user. http://www.tgn.com.ar
    22. Correo Argentino Quick – what’s Philately? It’s the study of postage stamps and revenue. We learned this and all kinds of other things when we had the chance to help Argentina’s postal service update its systems. We spent a lot of time consulting and working with our client-partner to understand their model and ultimate goals. Then, when the clear picture emerged, we completely redesigned their web presence and services including online sales, shipment tracking, zip code searches and price list checking among others. Beyond developing brand new technology, we also integrated legacy systems such as their existing "Track &Trace" application with a new web-based front end. One particularly interesting project was the development of PCarta. It is a web based message system - but instead of delivering an e-mail it sends a message to a printer station in the post-office closest to the recipient. There the mail is printed, prepared, then delivered to the recipient’s physical address. This is a unique and cost-effective solution for individuals and businesses that need physical delivery of correspondence. W3 developed and executed this concept beginning to end, including building a remote queuing and printing application that integrated with existing Correo hardware. http://www.correoargentino.com.ar
    23. Previsol Previsol is an important pension fund in Argentina and when they wanted to update their online presence, they contacted W3 because of our extensive experience in helping financial services companies succeed online. Because hundreds of thousands of clients use the site to manage their pension accounts, and some use dial-up, the site had to combine a modern clean, light feel with a very efficient transactional interface. Clients can securely modify personal account information, access online account statements, and view periodic investment summaries. Additionally they can use an email interface to request detailed historical statements or contact a personal consultant with questions. Non-clients can review information on different plans, see transcripts of pension law, and review the investment strategy for funds. http://www.previsol.com.ar
    24. Citibank – International Personal Banking Citibank’s ability to deliver global banking solutions creates amazing opportunities for clients – but also gives rise to legal complexities for the bank. Our work with Citi’s International Personal Banking team has centered on partnering with them to balance the drive to extend the client experience online and the need to do so in a secure and compliant way. This site gives an overview of IPB's services and client access to both the Banking and Investment platforms. http://www.citigold.citibank.com
    25. How We Work Delivering "something more" is an obsession W3 fosters in its team-members from day 1 on the job. Based on our extensive experience, we've learned that it's easy for clients to think about our services within a typical project lifecycle: Consulting, Development, and Management. 1. Consulting We work together with our clients in developing the ideas behind their projects. We contribute our experience in order to work out a solid approach for their projects. Within this business line we've developed the following services: E-processes Consulting IT implementation is directly related to a company’s business process. Two key dynamics need to be understood: 1) Technology offers great opportunities for optimizing resources, and 2) It is critical that every new project have balanced and integrated processes if it is to achieve optimal benefits. We help companies identify opportunities and plan balanced projects. Feasibility Study We've observed the industry long enough to see many initiatives based on infatuation with new technologies fail because they don't have a fully developed business perspective. So we tell our clients clearly - we don’t believe you should do something just because it’s new and cool. What can be done with the Internet ranges from brilliant to bad - we help clients properly leverage cyberspace's idiosyncrasies so as to complement their strengths, capabilities, and business objectives. If together we decide there's some new technology that will help and makes sense - we move forward (and our team gets excited because we get to play with a new toy). Design Consulting Web based applications differ completely from their traditional IT counterparts. Internet and Intranet solutions are broadly accessed by non-technical users. This is why thinking about user interface and interaction are extremely important - so we help our clients do that in very tangible, non-technical terms. User interface failures have killed many an excellent application. For W3, usability, navigability, and user experience are key issues during development and testing.
    26. Architecture We assist our clients in the process of choosing the right infrastructure for each project. Decision- making about hardware, platform, operating systems, upgrading and compatibility with existing infrastructures are very complex and important for development and successful implementation. After all - the best ideas and the most elegant designs are useless if they don't actually work. We've learned that we can help lead this discussion and experience has taught us how to ask the right questions - but to achieve great end results we must have clear, open communication with our client- partners... and lots of it. 2. Project Development We jointly commit to a schedule with our client-partners and do our part to deliver results that are on time, on budget, and beyond expectations. Every project truly is a partnership and we've learned that successful project execution depends on structured planning and follow-up on from both sides of the project. We’ve found that usually a client’s initial vision for a project evolves as the pieces begin coming together. This is why we usually recommend incremental implementation, dividing the project into phases managed iteratively with a high level of interaction with our client-partners. This way we together can achieve a truly great solution while minimizing the risk of misunderstood direction or misspent energy. Web Application Development and Integration The net offers huge potential for companies to interact with clients, providers, visitors and prospects - but ask any talent scout - potential and performance are two different things. We’ve seen that the "real value sweet-spot" for companies on the Internet is at the intersection of communication and transaction. In our web application development and integration work we are constantly seeking the perfect harmony between how our clients give/receive information and how they call their customers to action. An important trend we help our clients identify and utilize is that the integration of many business front-end and back-end systems is gradually erasing the virtual frontier between the Internet and their Intranet. It's becoming clearer that companies must be prepared to let clients come in – but Web 2.0 can be a challenging world for corporations. W3 can help make sure the tour you give your client’s is a guided one.
    27. Outsourcing Nearshoring and Offshoring We develop forward thinking and cost-effective software solutions. We have created an environment that assures the right conditions for predictable offshore software development: methodology, programming skills, creativity, infrastructure and strict quality assurance. You don't have to take our word for it - W3 is a CMMI-certified software development solution provider. Content Management and e-learning Content Management, collaboration and e-learning are tools to optimize corporate knowledge. We can provide service which allows clients to manage content as well as Intranet resources and intellectual assets. This contributes to a more functional integration between corporate knowledge and individual talent. Our approach allows corporations to increase the value of their Intranets while cutting costs and time through the usage of modern Knowledge Management techniques. W3 has honed specialized skills in Knowledge and Content Management and can offer a variety of services within this field. WCKoL and FLOiDD are two proprietary Content Management tools for Internet and Intranet which we’ve implemented in several large international companies. W3 also implements customizations of third party tools such as TeamSite, Web Logic Portal, SAP Portal, and Microsoft Sharepoint. System Integration The huge variety of existing platforms, software, and devices make integration projects a rather complex job. We have a proven track record of integrating global solutions, becoming a single point of contact for our clients, optimizing costs, and reducing lead times by managing multiple providers of hardware, software, and connectivity. One interesting thing we've found - sometimes you don’t have to spend money for a new system. We've given new life to many legacy systems and connected them to a fresh web based interface. Design We feel that design is so important that it is embedded in everything we do – our in-house design team has a part in every single project. Beyond embedding design in Web projects, we also have the ability to do “pure design” projects.
    28. 3. Management The last phase in the service cycle is the continuous management of systems and operations. Systems need maintenance and need to be dynamic, not just to maintain their value, but to increase it. We partner with our clients to satisfy pre-established Service Level Agreements and keep our eyes open to anticipate potential risks and opportunities. Content Management By monitoring the Content Management System we continuously improve the value of Intranets and Internet sites. Several levels of services can be defined ranging from consulting support and content generation to complete webmaster functions. Web Application Outsourcing Clients usually outsource the ongoing management of web applications. We deliver worry-free maintenance that: • is cost effective • is integrated with help-desk and user support • corrects day-to-day problems seamlessly • consistently evolves with business needs Web Infrastructure Management We can take care of the entire application infrastructure, optimizing performance and releasing clients from the hassle of dealing with multiple providers and services, allowing them to concentrate on what they do best - run their business. Technology Used Programming Languages and Data Base: HTML, DHTML, XML, XSL, XSLT, WML, JavaScript, JScript, VBScript, ASP, .NET, PHP, JSP, ColdFusion, JAVA, PERL, Visual Basic, J2EE, Flex, Ajax, SQLServer, Oracle, DB2, Informix, Sybase. TeamSite, BEA Web Logic Portal, SAP Portal, Drupal, and Microsoft Sharepoint. Graphic Languages: Adboe CS4 suite, Corel Draw, Cinema 4D, 3D Studio, Maya, and Quark OS: Windows, MacOS, Unix, Linux, PalmOS, Blackberry.
    29. About Us We are 75+ highly skilled and motivated consultants, project leaders, graphic designers, system architects, programmers, and marketing specialists. We have 10+ team members working in Research and Development with a university where they participate jointly with professors and students in development projects. We believe in exploring, learning, and developing new skills both as an organization and as individuals - research and training for our team members is a critical part of W3's success. Our US business has grown significantly in the last few years and now serves clients located as far west as California, east as New York and Florida, and south as Texas. To ensure we deliver our relationship promise to our expanding client list we've appointed a Managing Director for North America. Our US operation is based near a central airport hub (DFW), which ensures we are no more than 3 hours away from any client. Why we use Argentine Production Educational institutions in Argentina have a superior reputation in the region. In the past two decades the country has developed a strong educational infrastructure and the younger generations have chosen to develop IT skills. Tandil and its university (where we have our R&D team) is one of the best examples of this trend and the city has become known as an important IT node in South America. The government is not only committed to the educational programs necessary to foster an IT hub, it is also investing heavily in the infrastructure and tax/legal modifications to make Argentina an important world center for IT development. Many global IT giants have seen these same trends and have made similar decisions - the most recent example is Google's decision in 2007 to put its third largest development center (behind California and Ireland) in Argentina.
