  • 1. Event report We all have it, but dont use it 23 April 2012, at Vlerick Campus GhentThe alumni event ‘We all have it, but don’t use it’ last Monday 23 April in Ghent, broughtthe spirits of more than 50 participants to extreme heights thanks to the energeticpresentation on how to use tablets and smart phones by five Vlerick Leuven GentManagement School students: Steven Debersaques, Pierre Maere, Erik Decoster, MathiasYde and Yves Prössler. The students, being geeks in the use of modern technology, designed and delivered all theinformation that one needs to know about modern tablets and smart phones in thedomains of Access to Information, Productivity tools, Communication and Collaboration; theagenda ended covering the domain of Entertainment and how to get pleasure out of thosemachines as well. The use of two screens supported the interactive discussion: one screen showed thepresentation slides with the structure of the agenda and the essential features of the tabletapplications. The other screen allowed the participants to see in real time how the tabletapplications function and look like. From the start the participants asked questions and offered their experience to theaudience as well. As a result that questions and answer session became an idea-marketsession with everyone learning from the experience of others, resulting in a lively ambienceand atmosphere of friendship in the room.As so often, the evening ended in the bar of the school where many participants expressedtheir gratitude regarding the high quality of the event, mainly due to the high score onpracticality, clarity, interactivity and the contagious enthusiasm of the students-presenters.By Rudi Lepomme (PUB 1977)
